I can't remember the last time a wide release was delayed two weeks before opening.
Any idea why it got bumped to the January dumping ground? Perhaps its testing poorly? I would think SMG in a movie like this would be decent, although we just had The Grudge 2.

Maybe because no one knows the film actually exists. I've seen zero marketing.

Now at least I won't have to see The Return's trailer before every movie at the theatre I go to.
Will they cut a new trailer?

I don't think it's confirmed. All sites that I have checked still say November 10, 2006 as The Return's release date.

I read it on joblo.com, but it's odd that is has yet to appear on comingsoon.net. Maybe it isn't true, but I can't remember them having ever been wrong about a film getting delayed before.

Comingsoon.net, have changed it back. And added new production stills as well. I really hate Rogue Pictures sometimes.

Let's Go to Prison has swapped spots with Tenacious D, it's now opening Nov. 17th. I smell a dumping, but we'll see.
Also, here's a slew of new MPAA ratings:
Blood Diamond R (for strong violence and language)
The Good Shepherd R (for some violence, sexuality and language)
We Are Mashall PG (for emotional thematic material, a crash scene, and mild language)
Hannibal Rising - opening Feb. 9th by the way - R (for strong grisly violent content and some language/sexual references)
The Nativity Story PG (for some violent content)
Brothers Solomon R (for language and sexual content)
The Last Legion PG-13 (for sequences of intense action violence)
Because I Said So PG-13 (for sexual content including dialogue, some mature thematic material and partial nudity)
Stomp the Yard PG-13 (for a scene of violence, some sexual material and language)
Curse of the Golden Flower R (for violence)

Ok Correct me if I'm wrong but Hannibal Rising used to be called Young Hannibal correct? Or is this that Vin Diesel movie?

Yes Rising is the same as Young Hannibal. Just a new name.

Is Knocked Up trying to mimic The Devil Wears Prada perhaps?
And I wish The Good German would open wide on the 15th or at least expand around Christmas. I don't want to wait until January to see it.

Actually thats a good move for Knocked Up. It may be Pirates second weekend but it should have a solid run from there. Though I did like the August release date too.

Not sure how wide, but Warner Bros now lists a 12/22 expansion too on their internal site (post the 12/15 move).

With Puss 'n Boots to become a theatrical release thereafter.

Ah, hopefully it's wide enough to open in Annapolis. I'd love to see it and The Good Shepherd on the same day; I'm dying to see both.

Nice move for Narnia. Best slot of the year snagged.
Great for NT2 as well. 250 mil+ is very possible.

Some interesting moves in place. Narnia takes the Shrek slot - I wonder if Black Knight will remain in May now. Narnia would also work in June but the May slot is good.
National Treasure hits the jackpot with that slot. Could make it the biggest film of the holiday season - which is shaping up very nicely (better than this year) with Bee Movie, Beouwolf, Charlie Wilson's War, National Treasure 2, I am Legend, The Eye, American Gangster, His Dark Materials, Fred Claus, The Water Horse, Enchanted and more to come.
We also now have the first signs of the 09 schedule coming to life. Two Dreamworks animated juggernaughts take their positions. 09 could have Superman aswell and maybe just maybe a Hobbit film.
