Post Re: Transformers (INTL.)
Here's a list comparing Transformers to the franchise-opening moves for 2007's big sequels:

Harry Potter: Sorcerers Stone
Dom: $317.5m - Int'l: $658.9m - WW: $976.4m

Spider-Man
Dom: $403.7m - Int'l: $484.4m - WW: $821.7m

Transformers (in progress)
Dom: $306.4m - Int'l: $353.7m - WW: $660.1m

Pirates: Plack Pearl
Dom: $305.4m - Int'l: $348.8m - WW: $654.2m

Shrek
Dom: $267.7m - Int'l: $216.7m - WW: $484.4m

Looks like TF is in the middle of the pack for first movies.
I wonder if the next one will perform better or worse.

Par's "Transformers" added another $11.8 million at 4,750, led by its third Japanese frame of $2.5 million. Michael Bay's actioner, which has far exceeded studio forecasts overseas, has cumed $354 million outside the U.S.

Without IMAX.....Looks like a $380m finish overseas and another $308m Domestic for a total of $688m.....huge but Japan dissapointed badly....

Oh well...with IMAX release it should make it to $700m????we hope...

I think IMAX release is only for North America.

Plus they are rumors not confirmed from paramount or dreamworks.

But it will be sweet if it gets IMAX release.

TAIPEI (TWD$) - Weekend 8

This is the largest movie since The Day After Tomorrow. Transformers is slowing down pretty fast, so it'll need to work at it if it wants to pass TDAT's 181.4m TWD tally.

JAPAN - Weekend 3

Thanks to the holidays, Transformers made an extra $12m since the last weekend. Though that's nothing to scream about when Potter in its 5th week is doing much more. Transformers however is holding much better than Ocean's Thirteen. Should be good for a total close to $40m......solid but dissapointing overall.

Quote:
Transfomers nabbed sixth place with an $11.1 million weekend from 52 territories for a $354.3 million total. The action spectacle had a terrific launch in India with $1 million from 262 screens, but its European premieres weren't as successful.

I say that is a very good number but i don't think it will do more than 4 million even with great legs because of huge competition with local films in coming weeks.

Transformers increased 28% est. over the 4-Day....fantastic, boosted by +111 theatres

19 19 Transformers P/DW $1,470,000 +28.0% 937 +111 $1,568 $310,504,000 $150 9

////

Looks like it'll end around $314m Domestic (surpassing AOTC and FOTR's original gross) .

..and with IMAX release just around the corner, chances of $320m are very good indeed. It needs just $321,012,359 to beat Shrek 3.....fingers cross :yummy:

LOL, didn't even siee it coming....haven't seen a movie since Die Hard 4 a couple of weeks ago.

Ratatouille should have a solid opening, these movies normally do....and this is the first big kids flick since The Simpsons. I think it can open to about $5-6m (Bourn Ultimatum did $6.15m AUD$).

Cars did $4,301,936 on opening

Post Re: Transformers (INTL.) - $693m (#28)
Last week, Transformers re-entered the Top 5 in Taipei, staying on 1 cinema but shifting to IMAX.

It increase 15,867% from the prior weekend....and this week, only dropped 22.2% to stay inside the Top 10.

Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - 199,928,585 (67,610, -48%) - 2
Transformers - 183,946,772 (697,350, -22.2%) - 1
Harry Potter 4: GOF - 168,717,170 (26,030, -39.7%) - 1
The Matrix: Reloaded - 81,048,165 (8,630, -55.9%) - 1

IMAX has helped Transformers pass TDAT (it wouldn've done so without IMAX)....thus becoming the largest movie in Taipei since ROTK grossed more than 200 TWD.

Transformers now rank as the 5th largest movie post 1996....sitting behind Titanic, Lost World, ROTK and Independence Day.

While ROTK is out of reach, Transformers could still pass Independence Day if it holds well...

Titanic (1997) - 387,787,110
Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World (1997) - 213,165,160
Lord Of The Rings: ROTK (2003) - 200,046,545
Independence Day (1996) - 187,755,640
Transformers (2007) - 183,946,772
The Day After Tomorrow (2004) - 181,388,280
Mission Impossible 2 (2000) - 173,282,865
Harry Potter 4: GOF (2005) - 168,801,020
The Mummy Returns (2001) - 167,838,885
Lord Of The Rings: TTT (2002) - 163,877,610
Harry Potter 2: COS (2002) - 162,361,640
Harry Potter 1: PS (2001) - 159,983,475
Armageddon (1998) - 157,862,070
Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End (2007) - 150,111,748
Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest (2006) - 149,523,654
Kung Fu Hustle (2004) - 149,155,470
Face/Off (1997) - 147,874,370
The Mummy (1999) - 147,472,385
Air Force One (1997) - 144,789,540

Transformers will finally make it to $700m this weekend....and there's talk of 2 more movies planned.

Can't help but think that if it wasn't so sluggish in Japan and faced huge competition in UK it would've blown past $400m overseas and get close to $750m.

Hope the sequel delivers
