Slow Burn, a Rashomon-style crime thriller with Ray Liotta, is another one which can't seem to find a permanent release date. With this one, though, I don't believe it matters much when it comes out. If Narc couldn't bring in audiences, I don't see how this film, which has terrible pre-release buzz, could.

A few new dates:
The WWII actioner Flyboys has been moved up a week to September 22.
Running With Scissors will open in limited release on October 20 before going wide October 27.
Anthony Minghella's Jude Law drama Breaking & Entering will now open NY/LA December 8 before expanding in January, rather than opening wide October 6.
Adam Sandler's 9/11 drama Reign Over Me will open wide March 9 next year.
The Sandra Bullock thriller Premonition has been bumped a week to March 16 from March 9.

Not a great move for Flyboys, but it always looked like it was going to get lost in the shuffle either way. With The Guardian vs. Open Season the next weekend (School for Scoundrels is MGM so it'll probably be a low-key release) Sept. 29th is the mirror version of the same weekend two years ago with Shark Tale vs. Ladder 49, only these two combined probably won't make what Shark Tale alone did.

300 date could be a good thing
Zingaling wrote: According to Coming Soon, 300 is looking for a new release date. Bleh.
Had it stayed on the 16th there would have been a huge Friday to Saturday drop due to St Patricks Day
on a Saturday just as it depressed numbers on Friday of this year for V.
It did happen right after WB screened it for about 400 fanboys at a test screening so either it's getting
a good upgrade in date or a scary downgrade.

It could be that this film will skew 18-30 year old male and hence a St Patricks Weekend release would be disasterous. March and April are filling up rather quickly at this stage so it will need to act fast. Perhaps late April would be good.

The project has had nothing but fantastic word come out of it - I have a feeling that WB is going to be gutsy and position this into a bigger film then the March release date would imply. V for Vendetta didn't exactly do great business that weekend anyways,

They could go for a summer or fall release for '300'. There is an opening on the weekend after Memorial Day (Pirates 2nd weekend and Shrek's 3rd). It could have that weekend all to itself as a new release - just like The Break Up this year.

New Release Dates - Looks like Journey 3D is now 2008.
These are from Movieline International and have not shown up elsewhere yet:
Journey 3D is presumably to wait until there are enough 3D Digital installations to
go wide and work on FX not to mention bail out on the insane Summer 2007.
STEPPIN' (STEPN) is now STOMP THE YARD
MESSENGERS is now 2/2/07
PERFECT STRANGER is now 5/11/07
WIND CHILL is now TBD
MARTIAN CHILD is now 2/9/07
FULL OF IT is now 3/2/07
MR WOODCOCK is 3/9/07
JOURNEY 3D is now 2008
INKHEART is 2008

Eesh. I guess it'll be good counter programming, but that seems like it would get lost in the shuffle between Spidey, Shrek and Pirates.

Probably a good move I had it pegged as the Poseidon of next summer.

They're pretty much aiming directly at the ENOUGH crowd and if it does that well, they'll be happy. It's the last of the Revolution projects I believe (presuming Wind Chill doesn't get pushed farther into Summer)

Yep, whatever takes that date is going to have a hard time. I do believe an adult movie like this has the best shot of grabbing an audience during next May's bloodbath. A straight forward chick flick would have also been a decent counterprogramming move, but let's face it, counterprogramming is probably not going to be successful no matter what they slip into that spot.

Good move for Journey 3D. Looks like Summer 07 is spacing out a little and there's a bit of room for decent counterprogramming now.

What is Perfect Stranger? I dont think its such a bad move - if its a good film that is and it can possibly eek out $40 to $50m in between the big three. Granted there are enough films now being released in May outside of the big three - No Reservations, 28 Weeks Later and 1408. Yet there is still nothing up against POTC2 or on the weekend after.

I don't see it getting enough screens to make that much. I would think that anything that was THAT good, would stay as far away as possible from May. (or at least open in April)

I now agree that late April would be better seeing that from the description it wont have a "Crash" type run. When you think about it - three UBER sequels within 4 weeks of each other is unprecedented and should be one of the most interesting BO events ever.

So the last empty weekend of summer 2007 has been plugged! Good move.
