And Dead Man's Chest before that as well. Everyone predicted that to break the record.

Sith technically too, I mean its first 3 days were easily ahead of Spider-Man's. I do think a lot of people thought Advengers could do, just not by how much it did.

Re: Star Wars Breaks All The Records Club
How about the records for:
Lowest multiplier for a movie released the weekend before the holidays. Lowest fri-sun multiplier in Dec. Biggest Sat drop in Dec. Biggest Dec holiday weekend drop.
All of them.

Re: Star Wars Breaks All The Records Club
Lowest multiplier for a film released on 12/18 is Did You Hear About the Morgans at 4.47, the film also fell over 68% every weekend after the first week of January. But here are some films that opened within 10 days of December 24 that had low holiday season multipliers. Eragon 3.22 12/15/06 (Christmas Eve on 2nd Sunday, would still have fallen over 65% regardless) I Am Legend 3.32 12/14/07Tron Legacy 3.90 12/17/10 (not a crazy low overall multiplier but it is the lowest for a film with December 24 on its 2nd Friday for a 57% wknd 2 drop) Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events 3.94 12/17/04Every film listed had mixed to toxic WOM, The Force Awakens will easily out hold all but Did you Hear About he Morgans, because the movie will fucking rock. Lowest Fri-Sun Multiplier opening wknd for a December release is currently The Ringer 12/23/05 at 2.17, Even The Hobbits Friday releases have higher opening wknd IMs at 2.28 (unexpected journey) and 2.36 (Smaug). Naturally no film that has opened on 12/18 has come close to such low Opening wknd IM, regardless I think an IM in the 2.17-2.28 rang is likely for The Force Awakens thanks in part tho the holiday season release. The front-loading would probably reach potter levels outside of December. The Largest Saturday Drop Opening Wknd in December is probably held by the Ringer at 72%, no point in checking for other releases, The Force Awakens will not come close to touching that figure. Largest Holiday Wkdn Drop for a film in its 2nd wknd is probably Eragon at 70% ( would have fallen over 65% even without Christmas Eve on Sunday, that film was shit, I doubt the Force Awakens drops over 45% regardless of how high its opening wknd might be. In short The Force Awakens will not set any of these records because the film will fuckin rock and the history of the 12/18 release date is massively in its favor, when Did You Hear About the Morgans can tank after the holidays (literally made 86% of its entire gross in its first 17 days) yet still have a 4.47 multiplier it shows what a prime slot 12/18 really is. All of them

SW will benefit a lot less from Dec than some rom-com or drama. Those advanced ticket sales would come with any release date. People are far more likely to have their minds made up at this point.
