Though anywhere between $86m-$95m is possible at this stage.

Should beat GOF at least. Also it should pass 700 today, though it probably already passed it when adding in overseas gross from Monday. The big question can it pass 900? I think it needs good drops in the U.S to have a chance now. Japan is going to hurt it. I still think it can get pass 600 million but I don't think it will get past it by much.

I think it's looking to gross in the low $900ms......$290m + $615m

This might well be the first time we get two $900m+ movies in one year...

That sounds right, too bad about Japan though, because it could have challenged Pirates overseas or at least came closer to 650. Amazing to think we could have two 900 million dollar films. I know it has come close a couple of times. Both years LOTR and Harry Potter opened, one did and the other came close.

Post Re: Harry Potter 5: OOTP (INTL.)
UNITED KINGDOM - Week 3

HP5 becomes the fastest movie to cross US$80m, and is holding pretty well against last weeks enslaught from Simpsons and Transformers.

Should find its way to $90-95m. Could well be a franchise record.

Harry Potter 5: OOTP - $81,748,726 ($10,326,010, -56%)
Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - $78,744,615 ($16,212,246, -38%)
James Bond: Casino Royale - $75,398,162 ($14,728,764, -40%)
Harry Potter 3: POA - $69,187,366 ($8,351,491, -24%)

Spiderman 3 - $58,189,821 ($6,462,357, -54%)
Harry Potter 1: PS - $57,058,144 ($10,924,493, -34%)

GERMANY - Week 3

After a slightly underwhelming opening, HP5 has performed brillaintly over the past 2 weeks and is looking very strong at the momment. The opening of Simpsons didn't affect it that much.

Could well end up with $65-70m. Making it one of Potter's strongest performances in USD$.

Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - $70,888,360 (8.237.289 adms. - $14,783,417/ 1.642.541 adms., -42%)
Lord Of The Rings: TTT - $59,336,459 (7.991.572 adms. - $12,250,874/1.668.248 adms., -42%)
Harry Potter 5: OOTP - $49,812,072 ($9,326,812, -38%)

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - $48,602,302 (7.135.982 adms. - $6,165,770/ 899.916 adms., -67%)
Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - $46,743,388 ($5,953,348, -53%)
Harry Potter 4: GOF - $46,738,689 (5.858.090 adms. - $8,100,814/ 1.025.337 adms., -34%)
Independence Day - $46,234,479 ($12,088,562, -18%)
Lord Of The Rings: FOTR - $45,116,058 (7.377.282 adms. - $10,694,433/1.689.287 adms., -36%)
(T)Raumschiff Surprise: Periode 1 - $44,414,416 (6.534.633 adms. - $7,973,885/ 1.175.802 adms., -40%)
Harry Potter 2: COS - $41,133,381 (6.611.906 adms. - $7,327,756/1.194.885adms., -44%)
Harry Potter 1: PS - $41,093,477 (7.462.567 adms. - $9,765,042/1.791.268 adms., -23%)
The Da Vinci Code - $40,856,478 ($8,702,423, -37%)

Harry Potter 3: POA - $36,621,441 (4.925.064 adms. - $6,125,628/ 838.899 adms., -47%)

AUSTRALIA - Week 3

Was surpassed by ROTK and Shrek 2 this week, though the hold is actually not too bad considering it had to face Simpsons animation-record opening debut.

2007 looks like Potter's year, with Shrek 3 slowing down dramatically in its 8th week, down 76% for $28,385,842. Potter should have no problems grossing that extra $3m to surpass Shrek 3.

Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - $26,784,607 ($4,365,057, -49%)
Shrek 2 - $26,578,510 ($6,174,398, -31%) or $25,903,036 Actuals

'Simpsons Movie' reigns at overseas boxoffice

By Frank Segers

Aug 6, 2007
"The Simpsons Movie" dominated the international market for the second consecutive weekend, grossing an estimated $47.3 million from 6,600 screens in 75 markets and pushing its overseas boxoffice total to $187 million and $315.6 million worldwide.

The weekend's top five performers comprised the same titles as last weekend's although "Transformers" supplanted "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" in the runner-up slot. The market will receive a jolt this week when Universal International rolls out its No. 1 domestic title, "The Bourne Ultimatum," in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and the Middle East.

"The Simpsons" opened in Mexico, Denmark, Poland and India, with Mexico providing the biggest number, an estimated $7 million from 850 screens, enough to secure a No. 1 ranking and a notch as the third-biggest animation title to open in that market. In Denmark, the opening gross was $1.4 million from 119 sites for a mighty $11,764 per-screen average.

Biggest holdover markets for Bart and company were the U.K. (No. 1 with an estimated $8.7 million from 516 spots for a cume of $49.5 million), Germany ($5.4 million from 985 sites, cume $24.9 million), Australia (No. 1 with $5.3 million from 445 screens, cume $18.9 million) and France (No. 2 with $3.8 million from 716 situations, cume $15.3 million). Taiwan opens this week on Saturday.

No. 2 was DreamWorks/Paramount Pictures International's "Transformers," which drew an estimated $30 million from 6,118 screens in 53 territories. Overseas gross total to date for the action title is just shy of the $300-million mark ($296 million). "Transformers" opened in five territories, including Japan, where it finished No. 1 with an estimated $5.3 million from 616 locations.

Finishing third was Warner Bros. International's "Phoenix," which grossed 49% less than last weekend but nonetheless crossed the $500-million mark internationally with an estimated $25.2 million from about 9,700 screens in 59 territories.

Overseas boxoffice total for Harry and company now stands at $509.7 million, nearly half of which comes from the U.K. (market cume of $84.4 million), Germany ($52.4 million), Japan ($43 million), France, ($41.6 million) and Australia ($27.3 million). The film opens in Turkey on Friday and the next day in China.

In the No. 4 spot is Disney/Pixar's "Ratatouille," which was propelled by No. 1 openings in nine markets to its biggest weekend tally yet, an estimated $24.5 million from 4,320 screens in 26 markets. Overseas cume to date for the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International release stands at $83.3 million.

Remy the culinary rat made a gangbusters debut in France, grossing an estimated $11.4 million from 800 screens in the opening five days. Preliminary figures indicate that "Ratatouille" might well wind up as the biggest animation title ever to open in France, given that in four days it was up 1% above the previous record pace set by 2003's "Finding Nemo," which went on to record a total of $528 million overseas.

Heat waves in Spain and Belgium didn't hamper "Ratatouille" as it opened to an estimated $3.4 million in Spain at 270 screens while in Belgium the tally was $750,000 from 80 sites for a lusty per-screen average of $9,375.

Despite heavy rains in Taiwan, Remy and company managed an estimated $540,000 from 86 screens. In Hong Kong, the tally was $770,000 from 50 sites for a strong per-screen average of $15,400.

No. 5 on the weekend was Fox's "Die Hard 4," which punched its way to an estimated $7 million from about 4,000 screens in 39 markets, pushing its international total to $191 million. The Bruce Willis-actioner opened No. 1 in Brazil for an estimated $2.2 million from 359 locations. "Die Hard 4" bows Thursday in Australia.

UI's "Evan Almighty," on the strength of openings in the U.K., Mexico and Brazil drew an estimated $6.2 million from 1,360 screens in 17 territories, hiking its international total to $12.7 million. The U.K. provided a No. 4 ranking with an estimated $2.3 million from 420 locations. In Mexico, the rank was No. 2 with $1.3 million from 364 sites while Brazil also came in with a No. 2 ranking and $1.1 million from 168 locales.

DreamWorks/PPI's "Shrek The Third" lifted its overseas total to $406.8 million with an estimated $3.5 million weekend at 3,404 screens in 54 markets. New Line's "Hairspray" continued nicely in the UK, grabbing the No. 5 spot with an estimated $2 million from 356 screens. International total (the title is also playing Israel and Puerto Rico) stood at $13.7 million as of Aug. 2.

Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" chugged to an estimate $1.1 million from 2,294 screens in 29 markets. International total stands at $647.1 million, 4th biggest all-time. Worldwide, the total is $954 million, 5th biggest all-time.

Other overseas cume updates: UI's "Knocked Up," $15.4 million; WBI's "Ocean's Thirteen," $162.4 million; UI's "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," $1.8 million; Fox's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," $111 million; Sony's "Surf's Up," $7.4 million; UI's "Mr. Bean's Holiday," $187.6 million; and Sony's "Vacancy," $8 million.

It opens in Turkey and China next weekend so it won't drop 50% that weekend. I think it will make 600. I say it makes 880-895 WW. I think 900 is going to be very tough. It would need to make 290 in the U.S and 610 overseas or some variation of that. Right now I am not sure it can do that.

It's doing very well in the UK, I think it has already beat AWE there in 4 weeks. It could cross 100.

I think it will pass SS, but 100 is going to be hard. Now will 6 or 7 cross 100 is the question.

Very good numbers for AWE....it added 2.6m$ this week...needs 11.8m$ to top SS ...it can go either side...can outgross or can fall behind by couple of million...

It did extremely well in France but that was expected because of the subject matter.

only GODZILLA owns that market when it come to large than life character movie.

We can kiss $50m+ goodbye, this one looks like a $30m-40m grosser. Still, bloody terrible.

Hoping for big holds here.....

That will be embarassing for TF.

To be honest I am expecting it to perform like Charlie and he chocolate factory.

If it performs like I robot then that means it will indeed do lower than it did in SK and China.

Wow it isn't good that japan a big market for it will turn our to be a dissapointment. What happened to steven spielberg brandname?? I heard they pushed his name hevaily while markting TF in japan.

oh well the sad thing is that they have delayed TF in india 5 times.
