I'd say there's a chance it will challenge TS3 for biggest animated movie worldwide of all time. It needs $1.063 b to get there.

Only yucky blockbusters and dumb animated films succeed in China. Therefore, Frozen is doomed. It will go sub-20M there.

Where's the most impressive run of the year thread?
Frozen might win by a long range

Re: Frozen Cloudy Free Birds & Planes (INTL)
1 billion is far from being a lock.
Domestic might get to 400M, but it's not likely at this point. Not impossible, but around 385/390 seems more reasonable.
South Korea has been the leading market overseas in the last three weeks, and it's going to drop hard as holidays end today there. It has another 10/15M left. Other holdovers + Sweden made around 12M this weekend. With Lego coming soon, they should add 30M or so. The Chinese vocabulary doesn't include the word 'cinema', so Frozen could easily gross only 10/15M in the land of sheep.
864+25+10+30+10 = 940 or so.
And Tangled grossed 30M in Japan.

Frozen is not making just $10m-$15m in China, at the least I see it getting $30m total there.

Re: Frozen Cloudy Free Birds & Planes (INTL)
Yep TS3 is the mark Frozen is gunning for. $1b is a lock now, it should end up gaining on TS3 eventually or Disney might push it past that mark. One thing in its OS holdover markets is the release of Lego movie which should cut short its late legs.

Its major markets are 1) China - Lego has no release date and so no impact. 2) Korea - Lego released and bombed while Frozen's 4th weekend is still higher than OW 3) Japan - Again Lego is not a factor. Outside disney/pixar nothing does anything of consequence. So Frozen should barely break a sweat bcos of Lego.

I agree on the upcoming markets I obviously mentioned the holdover markets where it was re-released along with US's sing-along re-release.

That as I said in the other thread is a great start for it. I don't see it getting more than $30m from China but that is still an impressive number for Disney animation.
