BTC's 85 tracking was posted on Tuesday of last week if im not mistaken. It was revised to 83 after the matinees. Check page 2 of last weeks predictions. ( for the 85 #)

That being said I did not believe STID was going to come in that low and this week I'm pretty suprised seeing 100 for HO3. I don't see pre sales or the buzz but .....

FAST & FURIOUS 6 - $104 million (4-day)
THE HANGOVER PART III - $52 million (5-day)
EPIC - $39 million (4-day)

I definitely think Hangover with under perform and Fast 6 will do even better because of that. I'm sensing nearly no buzz for Hangover (most of my friends don't even want to see it) but am hearing tons of stuff for Fast 6. I wouldn't be surprised if it opened higher.

As for Epic, I could even see that going higher. There really isn't anything out there for families besides Iron Man, and that's three weeks old now. It's a holiday weekend and I have actually seen quite a bit of advertising.

$52 million would be a disaster for The Hangover 3. It'd probably mean a total of $100-110 million at best.

Nearly everything I have heard from casual moviegoers has just been negative, I can't see it doing well at all. I'm sure it will turn a profit (has the budget been released for it?) but I just don't feel it at all. It's Little Fockers all over again, just with a smaller gap between films.

And like I said in a previous thread, I actually have some hope for it and am seeing it this weekend, so I'm not just being negative to be negative. :P

I still think Hangover will do over $75m 5-day. Not that hard really. It was always going to take a hit but the Fast 6 factor is the big unknown at the moment.

Sounds about right. Part 3 is getting trashed just as bad as part 2. Part also did not have no where near the WOM part 1 had so expect a huge drop off. Also Fast Five was very well liked by critics and fans so expect people to save there money for something worth seeing.

I might lower the drop for Star Trek. I was thinking it would get hit fairly hard this weekend and then recover over the next couple of weekends.

Thinking $120m 4-day for Fast 6 and $70m 5-day for The Hangover 3.

I don't understand why Fast Six would jump from $92m opening (F5) to $120m. That's a $30m increase. The fanbase has not multiplied by that match.

I'm thinking it will open under $100m, around $95m 4-day. Which is still pretty fucking awesome for that pile of shit.

It's weird how all of the big, usually dumb, Summer blockbuster movies are getting good RT scores this year. Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness and now Fast & Furious 6. I guess Man of Steel and World War Z will also be fresh, so it only leaves After Earth.. lol

I am quite suprised...

You didn't think the fist fight between Vin and the Rock in Fast Five was really cool?

You give great filmmakers a good budget and magic happens. :) MoS will be in the 90s most likely, WWZ is a wildcard, After Earth will be in the 0-20 range. :funny:

The Fast & Furious is garbage, is there even a question about it? Pure junk. I found Fast Five to be mind numbingly stupid, just vapid film making of quite a low order. There are levels of stupidity, and this series is operating at a pretty high level of lameness.

What does it matter? Obviously teens and young adults find this trash COOL. Vin in a wife beater and pretty boy Walker with a bunch of lame CGI car action and plenty of girls in short shorts and mini skirts up to their yahoos. The fact that it's dreadful means zero when it comes to opening weekend for this franchise. It's going to do 100 million over the 4 days, that's probably the floor, maybe a little more. It will drop next weekend a minimum of 60 percent, 70 percent at least if you figure the 4 day holiday to next weekend's normal 3 dayer. Notice that the following 2 weekend after this one don't have anything substantial, those 2 weekends are designed for the holdovers to hold strongly, let those films play out before the next wave of true biggies hits.

Personally I'd love to miss this F&F flick, but the boys in our family will want to go. I'll try to talk them into a ballgame instead; we'll see. I'm mentally preparing myself for the s*it, I mean sit.

Hangover just feels so over, with so many Americans feeling burned by the last one, it was so horrific a miss that I just don't see certain segments of the market going back for more. Teens will go though, so it'll probably do 55 to 70 over the 5 days.

Epic could be a nice little surprise.

PS: Regarding the "praise" for F&F6 from the critics, I guess it must be noted; look closer at those "positive" reviews. They consistently say stuff like:

Unpretentious ridiculousness
Borderline ridiculous
None of it makes any sense
The movie understands precisely what it is (exactly; it's junk)

These comments are all in POSITIVE reviews of the movie.

My favorite comment I've seen in a review: The movie could easily have been dialogue free. And probably would have been better for it.

That is exactly hitting the nail on the head. At least admit what it is, LOUD, ridiculous CG Action of cars doing things that cars will never do in a million years, T&A, and that's about it. For adults it should be no skin off their nose that their kids want to see this stuff.

Not random; I just had a few minutes to post something. It's all good! Have a fun weekend at the movies!

When you see the tank driving on a Interstate and cars racing out the back of a C-130, that kinda lets you know what you're in for.

You know a film series has made it when it can induce meltdowns before there's even a midnight number.
