The Watchowski's are still making excellent movies (Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas are outstanding), the peeps just aren't interested in their movies.

Perhaps in the past, not so much in recent times, Gatsby, GI:Joe 2, Shutter Island, World War Z, The Monuments Men, ect.... Delaying the release is much less a determent to a films potential gross than it was.

This shows complete lack of faith. A sci-fi action adventure movie opening in February? It will get killed by whatever romcom/comedy opens for VD.

Only an action com opening in between feb1-feb27 next year (Mortdecai), Stars Johnny Depp. Only one romance (fifty shades) as well, everyone is steering clear of Fifty Shades of Grey.

50 Shades? The JR is really being dumped. 50 Shades will own the month.

I agree the current release date is bad and shows the confidence in this movie, it looks more like they are dumping it.

I for one hope JA does well. We complain about the lack of original sci-fi films but in the last 2 years have gotten just that (Oblivion, Elysium, Edge of Tomorrow, Jupiter Ascending, Pacific Rim). Yes, some are better than others but let's support these movies.

The flash of humor at the end of the new trailer surprised me.

While the new trailer is more mainstream, the plot of the movie still isn't. I think it looks original and fun, but I don't really see this doing 100M dom, which I'm sure is less than the budget. I'm thinking Riddick or Chronicles of Riddick gross, with maybe a 20-30M boost from the star power of Tatum and Kunis.

I also hope JA succeeds as a boost to the careers of the Wachowskis, so they may continue to pursue their vision with as much budget as they need to WOW us. I've loved almost everything they've ever done, except perhaps Matrix Revolutions. Cloud Atlas, Speed Racer, The Matrix, all top-50 material for me. V for Vendetta (writing/producing) top-100. Bring on Jupiter Ascending, which I think looks awesome, although I've stopped watching trailers at this point to save myself for the real thing.

The new trailer does indeed look better. It doesn't look so convoluted and strange as it originally did. But I still don't think it will do so hot at the box office.

I just saw a poster for Jupiter Ascending and remembered that it was not released yet. Apparently it's coming on Feb 6, although I see no buzz for this at all. I think it will go unnoticed. The release date move was its death, but the film just looks so shite.
