Re: Early Friday Number on The Hunger Games
So looks like a $65m OD which would give us a $150m weekend. Slightly above and were looking at $160m. Brilliant.

Re: Early Friday Number on The Hunger Games
The last count I did was last night at 12AM. At the time, this was at 47 sellouts and 710 showtimes. I'm guessing that number is somewhere well over 100 right now

Re: Early Friday Number on The Hunger Games
Quote: Meanwhile Lionsgate sources are telling me that the hotly anticipated pic did a matinee per-screen average of $7,800. Now that number is rising past $9,900 at this hour. That’s better than The Dark Knight ($9,806) but not Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part Two ($11,300) and Twilight Saga’s Breaking Down Part One ($9,310) and New Moon ($12,600).

Re: Early Friday Number on The Hunger Games
Variety's latest article says $70m Friday, but the 60% week-to-week drop for 21 Jump Street caught my attention. That means The Hunger Games is hitting its demo much harder than Harry Potter 7.2 hit Horrible Bosses, another indication THG could be a 4-quadrant film and have legs.

Re: Early Friday Number on The Hunger Games
I had heard a lot of people talking about this but I didn't know the hype was THAT huge?? I live in Vancouver btw. This is insane, if it does 150m+ I can't even...

That would mean next week's openers are in huge ass trouble. If Hunger Games gets a $150m opening with all 4-quads, then I have a hard time seeing it dropping below $70m next week.

I would expect an IM of 2-2.2. Sounds like the absolute floor is now 130.

Re: Early Friday Number on The Hunger Games
That is huge for THG not including midnights. Still I think the numbers are a little too early and Lionsgate while have been around are counting these kind of numbers for the first time which is why I believe these multiple updates. The final numbers might not be AS big as $50m but will be GREAT.
I expect $20m midnights and about $40m Friday total for $60m Friday.

Re: Early Friday Number on The Hunger Games
with 70 million its certain for 140 million.
I wonder if the number is right, that would be an insane level of day business.

Re: Early Friday Number on The Hunger Games
Well reports are still in the 65-70 range for Friday. Still yeah 140 is looking really possible.

Actually, The Hunger Games is...
OVER 9000!!!
lol
The film is doing very strongly shows are all mostly full some are sold out. Only the biggest openers have done this so a good sign...
One theater has around 8 sellouts for the night.
My theater has 2.

lol Yeah it was over $25m midnights and over $30m in predictions. Few hours back it was going to beat Spiderman for the biggest OD, please don't decrement the awesomeness of the movie by these bullish expectations, it is by far the most impressive feat and for me even better than DH2's OW record (because that without 3D would still have not beaten TDK).
