Re: The Avengers (INTL.)
Yeah the crowd pleasing part is great. It should have decent holds.
I really should go and see it this weekend but im waiting for friends who can only go next weekend.

Re: The Avengers (INTL.)
Everyone I went with seem to like it. Full cinema. It was a 2D showing and the only one at that.

Those initial numbers are pretty impressive. Europe I believe would be the telling factor. It was going to be huge in Asian markets anyways.

Could it be like TF3 and got some decent increases in all markets just because its in 3d?
I think 400+ is assured.
Based on how crazy Asia goes it can go near or above 500 million.

Re: The Avengers (INTL.)
Definitely 3D is going to be a big boost plus IMAX. I think it has a prime date for IMAX as well and is one of the biggest event movie of the year. Girls will be interested in any one of the action heroes to see this and then males will drive in huge force. I think $500m OS looks likely though it could stall after OW and not reach more than $400m which is why I am not giving $500m OS a lock as of now.

Reminds me of Transformers vs The Simpsons in 2007 in the UK.

I think 400+ is about certain.
I think 500 million is possible and that would be a smashing success for this film.

Anzac day in Australia and New Zealand. Still the point is that The Avengers will be frontloaded in many foreign markets too.

Let's not forget that the other reason why AVENGERS starts a week early is Labor Day on May 1st - celebrated in most countries on this planet...

Re: The Avengers (INTL.)
Still Its on track to head to well over 400 million...
Here is some reports from the box office.com great international forum..
"Italy:
Previews: 0.4m euros Wednesday: 2.3m euros Thursday: 0.665m euros
Should get around 5m euros for Fri-Sun... so $11m 5-day weekend. "
Australia 5-day around 16-20 million
The numbers are well well ahead of IM2...
TA opens gets 3rd largest Weekday opening day in the UK around 4 million and Friday seems to be bigger.
Expectations around a 18-20 million 4-day...

Re: The Avengers (INTL.)
The Thursday drop here in AU/NZ is fine. I think $18m OW is attainable in Oz.

Re: The Avengers (INTL.)
Here in Oz Avengers matched Potter's per theater average too. Best one day per theater average is still Two Towers from Boxing Day 2002.

Re: The Avengers (INTL.)
17M Wednesday 19M Thursday 36.1M Friday
Overseas around 73 million
With many markets to open and it being a Holiday on Monday it should end up well well ahead of IM2.
Actually it should outgross IM2 overseas in about 12 more days...
So far by Friday:
Australia - $11.1M UK - $9.4M France - $6.8M Italy - $5.8M Mexico - $4.7M Korea - $4.5M Taiwan - $3.6M Germany - $3.4M Philippines - $3.4M Brazil - $2.8M HK - $1.8M Spain - $1.7M Other - $14.1M
Total - $73.1M
