People have seen this movie so much folks since it's DVD/VHS release that no one will care to pay and see this again, even if it's in 3D..

150m max. (in today's market so whenever it comes out adjust for inflation)

 Re: Titanic 3-D/IMAX Re-Release
Pretty much ensures Titanic isn't leaving the top of the domestic chart anytime soon.
LOTR 3D rerelease, SW 3D rerelease, nothing will be able to pass a $700m, $750m, $800m film.

 Re: Titanic 3-D/IMAX Re-Release
I'm actually not that convinced that it'll make huge bucks. Other than Star Wars Episode 4, no relatively recent re-release came close to $100m i think and that was before DVDs became ubiquitous. Dunno if 3D alone will entice people enough to fork out another $10 for a movie they've probably already seen a couple of times in theaters and at home, even if it's Titanic.
For now i'd say somewhere between $50m and $100m, which would still be pretty neat.

 Re: Titanic 3-D/IMAX Re-Release
Well if would be marvelous to see it in 3D extra price or not but it would definitely be affected for re-runs since a lot of people have seen the movie multiple times. Hell Star Movies made it run back to back on 2009 saying it is the best movie of the century.
But even with once viewing it could be close to 100M-150M WW.

 Re: Titanic 3-D/IMAX Re-Release
Domestic - Probably another $300m, Overseas add another $600m.
This will be an event in itself, if they perhaps maybe through in some never before scenes in there as well and market it as "you have not seen anything yet"

 Re: Titanic 3-D/IMAX Re-Release
I don't see that at all. It is not such a must-see film for masses and rendering it 3D after Avatar will look like a money-grab to most.
No more than $70 million domestically. I agree that LOTR in 3D would probably perform better.

 Re: Titanic 3-D/IMAX Re-Release
And, as Cameron noted in hailing "a century of Gloria Stuart," her prolific-ness doesn't stop there. "Gloria's so alive, and her creativity, her artistry and the sparkle in her eyes is a challenge to all of us to live as fully and richly as she has and will continue to do as she heads into her 101st year," said the director, who's converting the blockbuster into 3 -D for re-release in April 2012, the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/gossip/ ... tanic.html...and happy belated Birthday, Gloria!

I'm looking forward to see Titanic in the theatre again, but I definitely won't be seeing it in 3D.

 Re: Titanic 3-D/IMAX Re-Release
Let it be known that I don't mind paying premium prices for the premium experience of seeing it in 2D - - brighter picture and colors, comfortable classic viewing.
Though hopefully the 3D fad will be well on the way out by that time...
