Re: Will Watchmen open to MORE or LESS than $65 million?

I think it will open below tracking at this point. Even though pre-sales improved the week, there were enough signs that this one will open below tracking. MTC has dropped the ball twice in a row.Normally they are so conservative about films like Watchmen.

(I know that 300 had an IM of 2.52) Without midnights, 300 dropped 4% on Saturday. A 4% drop w/o midnights for Watchmen would be $19.7 million, so it would need to stay level on Sunday in order to make it. So $65 million seems to be (IMO) impossible.

(I know that 300 had an IM of 2.52) Watchmen's running time will help the multiplier, but it will be more naturally frontloaded because of the genre and the fanbase, thus more than equalling the running time benefit. No way it'll top 300's multiplier.

I think his star trek over 100M OW has a better chance at this point (0.000001%)

Re: Will Watchmen open to MORE or LESS than $65 million?
Look everybody, I'm pretty sure that it won't reach $65m myself (and I'm pretty happy with my $60m prediction). What I have a problem with is that everybody is ruling this out for sure. All those first day or second day judgements by many people are so absolute and leave no room for what really CAN happen...
Remember all those $200m is a LOCK for QUANTUM LEAP after its opening? Or remember all those NO WAY that TWILIGHT is gonna reach the $150m mark after its second day (or second weekend) drop?
Just sayin'...
