So Madea's Family Reunion inflates to about 33 million (using 2008 figures for ticket prices). Given how the box office is performing, I think there is a reasonable chance of Madea opening to around 40 million this weekend.

Well, Madea's Family Reunion hit screens a year after Diary of a Mad Black Woman, whereas this one is coming from a three-year gap (not counting Meet the Browns, where she was only in a scene or two from what I heard). It could break out and top $30 million, but I think $40 million is pushing it, even with how well things have been going at the multiplexes lately.

Slumdog Millionaire only spent 1 weekend in the top 5 as well during its entire run so far and yet is at $87 m already, and could top $125 m without ever making it to the top 5 again. I think it will certainly be one of, if not the highest grossing movie ever to not make it to the top 4 (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this), and if it hadn't spent that one week in the top 5, it would become the biggest film ever to never make it to the top 5 (currently Everest with $87 m).

:funny:

Sorry, that post just seems out of place in this thread.

Yes, apparently! I can't believe my quote made your sig. :P

Any numbers for TDK? It made 353K last weekend and its 889K from 1 Billion.

Are you still holding out hope this will somehow beat TITANIC?? Even the shelves at Blockbuster every weekend have tons of copies indicating people have simply moved on.. It's over and the movie had a tremendous run and we should be thankful simply for that..

Do you not know how to read? Loyal clearly stated that he wants to see if the movie passed 1 billion worldwide....
