Not really a crowd report, but there were a ton of cars in my theaters parking lot coming from work. (Last friday there were none)/

Movie: The Simpsons Movie
Theatre: Silvercity Brampton
Time: 9.30pm
Capacity: 100% (Sold out 45 minutes before showtime)

The sellout isn't really indicative of anything insane since this theatre is generally pretty busy on Friday nights and it was only playing on two screens, so I expected it to be busy.

Trailers:
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Fred Clause
Daddy Day Camp
Horton Hears a Who
The Gameplan

Worst. Trailers. Ever.

Crowd Reaction: Very positive. Laughs solidly for the first 20 minutes then leveling out, applause at the end of the film. Those who left and didn't see Mr. Burns and Smithers, missed one of the funnier moments from the film.

Saw a 1:15 showing of Simpsons, was probably about 40 people, most of them coming from Comic-Con. (like me and my friends....)

Reaction was pretty great. I enjoyed it a bit.

The Simpsons
6:45 show, 400-seat theater, 90% full

Trailers
The Bourne Ultimatum
Rush Hour 3
Daddy Day Camp
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Horton Hears a Who

Movie
Both hilarious and clever. This is certainly the best TV show-to-movie in recent memory, eclipsing South Park. The film's humor feels more similiar to the earlier years of the show. Loved it. A-

Crowd loved loved it. There were hardly any dead spots where the audience wasn't laughing, most clapped at the end, and plenty stayed through the credits.

Sunshine
10:25pm, 200 seats, about 50% full

Trailers
Death Sentence
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Into the Wild
Rocket Science

Movie
I gotta say, I had high expectations for Sunshine and I did not walk out disappointed at all. It's different from how I imagined based on the trailer, though. It's a stunning looking film, no doubt. And it features great, great performances from the entire cast, but mostly Cillian Murphy. And then, it takes an unexpected turn in the last half hour that definitely reminded me of Event Horizon (actually, the whole film kinda did), but that's just another reason why I thought it was excellent. I wouldn't call it perfect, but it's one of the better films of the year and one of the best sci-fi films in recent memory. A-
