Is there no tracking available today (other than the ordering), or will it be out later tonight? I'm quite curious to see if DVC made a significant jump in the last week.

this i sone of the rare times i agree with bkb.

not many people i know really want to see this; and ya know, the marketing plan has been most press and then a decent amount of tv spots...but wherethis supposabkly "huge" hype is i have no idea cause this not most poples idea of big summer fun.that said, itll break 60 for sure. but the 80 million+ predictions are not happening.

Hmm, I'm going to quote this for future use, incase. It isn't for sure, obviously, but I have an inkling The DaVinci Code will surprise the naysayers, in regards to box office. And this is coming from someone who never really looked forward to this film.

PEACE, Mike.

Da Vinci Code is already #1 on moviefone, on Monday Night. Excellently ties in with the massive buzz, which is just not letting up.

Surprisingly Over the Hedge is on there as well.

Yahoo buzz chart must just have had a some sort of reset since all the movies are listed to be on the chart for only one day. The Da Vinci Code is up to a score of 80, while Over the Hedge has a score of 10, a very strong number as well for family films.

The way the two openers are performing on the tracking tools this week is amazing. I don't think it's unrealistic to think that both films combined could make up $130 million of this weekend's overall gross.

Highest by far since Harry Potter. It's also #16 overall. Movies rarely crack the top 20 overall. I don't think anything under 80m is possible at this point. Not that it ever was....

That's excellent for OTH, and it's also doing well on the other internet buzz indicators. I wonder if it might even beat TDAT as the top #2 movie of all-time

Definitely a great outlook, and we can surely use something huge to kick off the summer. I'm with DP07 that $80M+ for DVC seems quite certain.

But how can they expect SEE NO EVIL to do well in 1,000 theatres? They could have pushed this further, say in 2,500.

Anyway, it only cost $8M, so i'm sure they'll have no trouble making that in total.

This weekend is going to be massive.

From notfabio at HSX. I imagine we might see RS numbers later, as well.

MTC:

DA VINCI CODE: 81 MILLION
OVER THE HEDGE: 40 MILLION
SEE NO EVIL: 3 MILLION

I just watched the trailer for Over The Hedge again, was hilarious.

Both movies could pass $50M this weekend....but i think HEDGE will fall between $40M-$50M

My theater has 4 full screens for DVC this weekend. That's only been done one other time in recent memory, for Star Wars. Even Harry Potter and Spider-Man 2 only got 3. Either they know something we suspect (a huge open), or perhaps they are overestimating the hype, which is also possible. I can probably thank the Hoot tank job for freeing up a 4th screen.

Wow. MTC has DVC Tracking at $81 million opening?!! It just keeps going higher and higher. I think the film is guaranteed at least $70 million over the weekend now. MTC has been remarkably accurate, and when tracking (and awareness) is this bloody high, wow.

PEACE, Mike.

I might be underestimating Da Vinci as well, I was thinking low 70's but who knows at this point. I still see OTH doing a little less than 50 million right now.

I think MTC is right on with OTH, also. I'd say $50M is the most I can see right now, but who knows? This will definitely be a huge weekend.

I am comparing it with Madgascar honestly that had the same amount of marketing and it opened at 47 for the 3 day period. I think if it can get to 45-50 that would be a great opening for it.
