Bump

The WB:
Poseidon - 60 mil
Lady in the Water - 45 mil
Superman Returns - 195 mil
The Lake House - 52 mil
The Ant Bully - 20 mil

Total: 372 mil

Disney
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - 425 mil
Cars - 240 mil
Goal - 4 mil

Total: 669 mil

The WB got soooooo raped. Pirates beats them single handily.

Sony:
The Da Vinci Code - 218 mil
Click - 135 mil
Little Man - 60 mil
Monster House - 75 mil
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby - 130 mil

Total: 618 mil

So it's still close between Disney and Sony, thanks to the latter's quantity. Disney has this in the bag though, as they still have Invincible, while Sony has Zoom.

Disney has the summer in the bag, but Sony will probably end up taking the year.

something tells me that FOX will be the the real winner this winter.

#1 studio this year will be DISNEY
#2 will be either FOX (Eragon and Night at the museum) or SONY (talladega nights, casino royale and open season)

So to tally up WB:

Ant Bully $8.1 m opening, maybe $30 m total, and likely much higher budget. Disappointment, especially considering it was WB's 2nd CG animated film, thus they needed this to do alot better.

Deep Sea 3D $15.2 m -> It had a $366,000 weekend, and went up 19% without any more theaters. Its per theater average is only 41% less than its average 21 weekends ago. It should be able to make it to the top 7 imax films of all time, if it does $22 m +. which at this rate, I think it can.

ATL $11.6 m/$21.2 m I'm sure this was cheap, but a 1.83 multiplier????

Lady In The Water $32 m so far, maybe $45 m finish. Big disappointment.

16 Blocks $37 m total, For a Bruce Willis film, this isn't that great.

Firewall $49 m total, not horrendous, but not superb either, for a Ford film.

Lake House $51 m total, this is a solid total, but I'm sure a Bullock/Reeves reunion cost at least $35 m + to bring together.

Poseidon $60 m total, $160 m budget.

V For Vendetta $71 m, $54 m budget. Solid. But with this as the directors' Matrix follow up, the bar could have been higher, but considering how the Matrix series finished, it was still a good total.

Superman $186 m so far, budgets have been rumored to vary from $180 m, to $300 m, so its hard to tell how this film really did, but definitely below expectations, which were expecting this film to be a top 3 finisher for the year. It's #6 for the year so far, but there's still another half of the year to go.

WB next has "Beerfest," from the director of such classics as Dukes of Hazzard, Club Dread, and Supertroopers.
