Well I do think it will be leggy in Japan. I think it will stay around for a few weeks it should still pass 400 million.

BOM reported the weekend total as $40M for Ice Age 2 and a total of $333M. Much better than the earlier report. The holdover drop was 50%. But the movie still tanked in Japan and S. Korea.

Yea, I saw that, since it grossed 54 million last weekend, thats a drop of of about 22%. Not too shabby.

It actually grossed $60M last weekend. This weekend gross for the holdovers is $30M. That is a 50% drop, which is not too bad.

But its potential ($450M+) took a big hit, when it tanked in Japan and South Korea.

INTERNATIONAL

1 - Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - $47,373,645 (Spain/Mexico/Russia/Brazil/Netherlands - 29/4605) or $64.2m week
2 - Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - $158,000,808 ($94,962,060 - UK/Germany/France/Australia - 49/8321) or $192.3m week
3 - Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - $263,192,823 ($60,337,957 - HK - 57/8303) or $291.5m week
4 - Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - $333,062,067 ($40,233,152 - Japan/SKorea - 60/9034) or $349m week

The 4th weekend drop was much less than had been reported earlier in the week, down only 33%...it's total now approaches $350m. With China the only major market to go and Mission Impossible leading the blockbusters of 2006....its total should fizz out at around $420m-$430m.

THR:

On the cusp of the summer blockbuster season, the international boxoffice was largely static during the weekend as 20th Century Fox International's "Ice Age: The Meltdown" remained No. 1, garnering $25.3 million from 8,396 screens in 61 territories. The film's weekend estimate was just $2.3 million higher than the previous weekend despite coming from more than double the number of overseas markets. "Meltdown's" international gross shot past the $350 million mark, logging in at an estimated $373.6 million.

So Ice Age 2 is at $551 m worldwide, which is fantastic considering #1 finished at $382 m worldwide.

Well, I hope the long May holidays with schools off for nearly 10 days will help. But it's not a fact, Russia is unpredictable.

Ice Age 2 still leads international with $25.3m weekend

http://www.screendaily.com/story.asp?storyid=25984

Fox International's Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is bearing down on $400m following another dominant weekend that generated an estimated $25.3m.

Playing on 8,396 screens, the smash animated sequel has now amassed $373.6m in international ticket sales.

The highlight was a superb $4.7m second weekend haul in Italy on 647 screens for number one and a $15.1m running total.

Fourth weekend number ones holds took place in France on $3.3m on 847 screens for $38.6m, $3.1m in Germany on 1,093 for an excellent $51.7m, $1.7m in the UK on 485 for a mighty $45.5m, and $1.4m in Australia on 336 for $15.8m. After two weekends Japan generated $1.1m on 467 for $2.8m.

----

$373.6m + $177.7m = $551.3m est. (#32)

Italy's hold is very impressive, though it looks like Golden Week can't save Ice Age 2 in Japan....and its takings continue to drop at rapid rate in the UK.

On the Worldwide front, it has just surpassed Mission Impossible 2, The Day After Tomorrow and last year's monster epic, King Kong.

Hmm, it won't make it to $650 million probably now, but should pass $625 million.

IA2 has finally topped Finding Nemo, to become the biggest (CGI-) animated film in Germany.
