 Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: Shrek Forever After new #1! We're in for yet ANOTHER very hot weekend with two major World Cup matches and only one wide opener (Predators).
Sex and the City 2 will might place as #4 this weekend (in its 7th week) and that with less than 30,000 admissions over the weekend.
Meh
At least the weekend after Eclipse opens.

1) 256,319 SHREK (-35 %)
2) 132,716 TWILIGHT
3) 132,623 NEW MOON
4) 131,111 PREDATORS
5) 32,824 HANNI & NANNI (-11 %)
Another deflated weekend:
Saturday Night was dead because of Germany vs. Uruguay, Sunday Night was dead because of the World Cup Finale and the whole weekend was dead because of temperatures of more than 37 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit)
And the forecasts predict the heatwave to last for another week...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: Shrek Forever After #1 again Sex and the City 2 (still in the Top 10 here) is now at 2,429,394 admissions here, very close to the first film's final tally of 2,473,566 admissions. Definitely a slight overperformer here considering how it did in most other markets. With Toy Story 3 ahead I am not even sure that Shrek Forever After will overtake it. It might happen, but it's not a lock.
Avatar is at 10,873,523 admissions, still adding a little each week.
Iron Man 2 is currently at 960,477 admissions (#11 of 2010). That's 17% higher than the first one, but still a little disappointing for the sequel (that it won't pass 1,000,000 admissions).

Also up until not too long ago, all previews were counted towards the opening weekend, even if they were a week before the official opening. Now they are separate which makes the comparison to a year ago a little more difficult if looking at the 4-day weekend only. If you take out the previews and Twilight triple-features Eclipse had around 1 million over the weekend.
New Moon had 1,539,943 admissions last year in its opening (including all previews). However the hot weather is still hurting most movies here, so...
