Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
At NY most shows till 930 are sold out and Regal has sold out 1020 show as well. Only theater that is not selling out is the crap multiplex at Newport Mall in Jersey City.

Then how come DMC was increasing more than Pirates 1 on Saturday? It's all about the Fridays, man.

DMC had good WOM, not great like the first but good, and the first had mammoth sized friday increases do to crazy fangirls running out early in the wknd.

DMC judging from how much more it made had a more universal appeal, and no two films have the exact same run, there runs were under different conditions.

I'm thinking a 19m (9% drop) Wed followed by a 17m (11% drop) Thurs.
17m+ Thursday though puts it in position to get a 80m-85m 2nd weekend....mind-bottling (you know, what happens when you get your thoughts all trapped in a bottle) If its over $16 million on Thursday well see $80 million IMO. Anything over a $16 million Thursday, that and look the fuck out.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
Why so low...
...on Friday?
BB rose 84%, BF rose 73%, BR rose 59%. Batman only rose 38%, but it only dropped 12% Mon-Thur. DMC rose by 50%
If this doesn't increase by more than 50% on Friday, then something is wrong. OK, if it's above $17.4m on Thurs., I will tolerate a bit below, but I won't tolerate anything below $26m on Friday.

I agree with this. A sub-50% increase is almost certainly not happening, not with the WOM this is getting. I could see this dropping less than 20% on Sunday as well, considering Transformers managed to do so on it's second weekend.

If it makes $26 million on Friday, this thing is beating Titanic.
