I know it's May, but since they're starting so early, this should so - at least - 40 million.

Re: The Avengers 2 250m+ OW Club Deathly Hollows II was midnight showings only, but in terms of # showings of a film during a midnight only (none of this recent 7pm or 9pm BS, I miss the days where midnight premiers were special), I have never seen anything like DHII. My local theaters had every screen they had showing DHII, a new run starting every minute after 12am. 23 showings at my local mall theater that midnight, all sold out. AoU is only getting 11 showings tonight.

Judging from sold out lines for 12 showings (I was at the 7PM and lines were crazy for the 10) NJ might make 3-5 million on its own! Crowd seemed to love it too. I'm seeing it two more times this weekend.
And yes Zwack, I saw DH2 at 10 PM with my mom and brother. Not sure about TDKR, one of the few movies I had to wait til opening day cause I was working.

Re: The Avengers 2 250m+ OW Club Seems to me like this is behaving like a mega-opener Friday evening, which tend to range around 40-45M in recent years. The showtime volume for Thursday 7PM-12AM is orders of magnitude beyond what we've seen before for previews/midnights. Tele will provide a LA/Metro update later tonight and that might tally up to 800 shows alone. Nationwide we're probably looking at 25% more shows tonight than a typical 150M+ opener's Friday night, but obviously slightly less proportionate demand because the next day is a workday, so I wouldn't expect 25% over the typical 40-45M, but I think 35-40M has become the target.
