Sin City - 56%
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - 15%
Amityville Horror - 13%

Shocker that an "internet fanboy" movie leads a "Most Anticipated movies in April" poll.

For the most part that site seems more on the casual movie-goer side, looking at some of the scores movies get over there and how some movies like Fast and the Furious 3 has a good hype meter ( 4.27/5 )

I think it could end up with anything from 2800 - 3100 theaters, i'd go with 2900.

I think it'll have around 2,800-2,900. Near Kill Bill: Volume II's theater count.

Im aiming in the 3.5-4.5 area, I expect great WOM
If it has great WOM, it might just get to 3.0. Seriously, the way this year is shaping up, frontloading is becoming even more severe then I anticipated. The Ring 2 is going to have a multiplier of around 2.

front loading is not that bad, think about it the only films that have had bad legs are the horror/thriller films (Constantine included) and films that were just not recieved well. The only exception to that I can see is Coach Carter. The films that have been recieved well this year and have had outstanding legs are, In Good Company, Soon to be Robots, Hitch, Are We There Yet, The Racing Stripes, and many more.
Most of the hard drops this year have been from massive theater losses, or large storms. As long as Sin City can hold up well for the second wknd (anything under 50%) than it could pull off a great multiplyer.

Moriarty's Sin City review
http://aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=19697
Quote: The short version of all of this is that Robert Rodriguez has come up with a wall-to-wall winner, pure cinema freebase. Between this, KUNG-FU HUSTLE, and THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, April is the first real month of 2005 at the theater. Strap on your gun, buckle up for safety, and kick open the theater door on April 1st. SIN CITY delivers.

Harry's Sin City Review

Quote: This film will haunt BATMAN BEGINS this summer. It’s hard to want to see BATMAN done any other way than the Miller way. This film… folks. We have a new cool standard, we’ll all be visiting SIN CITY for our kicks, and this film has stiletto Rockettes to kick your ass. Take everyone you know.

DOAMBW seems to have had good wom, but it dropped anyway. Constantine as well.
Horror and action films tend to drop the most every year, and since this is an action film, it should be no different.
I'm pretty sure Racing Stripes did not have good WOM (mediocre B- at Yahoo), and besides Hitch, the rest you mention (BTW, you forgot The Pacifier) seem to have had decent wom, but nothing special. Most of those held up well because they were family films, while IGC was aimed at older audiences. Hitch was the one huge WOM hit this year, but even it, as a romantic comedy, is in a leggy genre.
You can't compare Sin City to any of those films. It's mostly about the genre, not WOM. Why does nearly every action film drop while family films hold up well? If it were WOM, you would think audiences would long ago have abandoned action films.
I would seriously consider betting my life that Sin City does not drop less then 50% in the second weekend. This film is nearly as naturally frontloaded as they get.
I think there are a few films each year for which the legs are majorly affected by WOM, but for the vast majority that neither have fantastic WOM nor horrible WOM, the effect is minor. SC might be among the few, like Kill Bill Vol. 1, with amazingly positive WOM, but I would not count on it.

Few more reviews
A Review by Tyler Foster

Quote: The images, the direction, the writing and the performances blend together perfectly, and Sin City is an experience that will stay with me forever. It's a classic. It's a masterpiece. It’s a work of art. Frank Miller's Sin City is nothing short of brilliant. A+Hero Realm http://www.herorealm.com/Movies/Sincity.htmQuote: SIN CITY will likely prove critic-proof, especially among comic fans; it’s a shiny new toy that will dazzle our senses until the next Cool Thing comes along, and there are certainly worse ways to spend two hours. So sit back, enjoy the ride, and wait for that 2-disc special edition dvd. 4/5Juicy Cerebellum http://www.juicycerebellum.com/200507.htmQuote: "Classic" isn't word enough to describe this seductive, powerful, ballsy film. It flirts, fondles and teases its audience right through 'til the end, and, when the credits role, it brings them to release -- resulting in uproarious applause that doesn't seem as though it will ever fade. 10/10

I'm definetly going to see this opening weekend. I've liked Rodriguez's other films, and I don't think this one will disappoint at all, since it looks like his best. The visual style looks very nice. I was originally going to say that I think the film will do Kill Bill type numbers, but I think the all-star cast will raise the totals up just a little bit.
Opening: $28.6
BO Total: $83.4

Nah, I was more commenting on someone feeling the need to highlight the movie's positive reviews when it has *2* in. Heh.
21/60, by the way.
