Ripley's Believe It or Not is scheduled for December 14, 2007.

Harsh Times is listed as "2006" at the moment.

Amy Heckerling's romantic comedy I Could Never Be Your Woman with Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd has been delayed from July to September 8.

The George Reeves biography/drama Hollywoodland starring Ben Affleck, Diane Lane and Adrien Brody, will also open on September 8.

I think that's a smart move for Rocky VI, but I'm surprised that we'll actually get to see it this year.

I agree November and December now look fairly strong but I highly doubt Rocky will get anywhere near $150m. Probably more like $60-70m or less.

I don't know. The Rocky franchise is one of the biggest franchises ever. While the fifth one didn't do too well, I think this will have a lot of more press covering it and it seems Stallone is really trying to please the fans. I really think it can hit with auidences and get in the 100m-150m range.

If Sony was confident in the film's 100+ BO potential they would have retained domestic distribution rights
and given it the Oscar consideration date that MGM is doing.

It needs far less to be considered a success for MGM.

The early test screenings have been that it is an improvement over the last one, but that it is in serious
need of editing and reshoots.

I seriously doubt it'll get to $100 million total. More like $70 million.

1480, the Samuel L. Jackson / John Cusack horror film is scheduled for May 18, 2007, probably trying to follow See No Evil's release date. Bad release date, I'd say.

Grind House has officially been pushed back to April 6. Rogue (not sure if it's the Jet Li / Jason Stathom movie or the one about the crocodile) has a February 2 release date.

1480 isn't some mindless slasher film, though. It's a psychological horror film, based on a Stephen King short story. It should try for an October release date, it would do a lot better.

Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties has moved up to June 16th. Not too smart of an idea I'd say because that'll be the 2nd weekend for Cars.

Uhh...no....I kind of doubt that.

Horror movie, low-budget studio (Dimensions), third week in May release date. What other horror film, other than See No Evil, has done that in the past 10 years?

Perhaps it's not trying to "follow" See No Evil, but that's what it seems like.

Oh, and it's 1408 btw. I should've known, having read the story and all, but it's an easy mistake to make. ;)

And I doubt it would want to follow See No Evil's opening, which is unlikely to get even $4 million this weekend. I'm sure it'll be in more than 2000 theatres.

Rocky still has a huge following, even though Stallone doesn't. Rocky is the ultimate "guy" movie, and it is a story about beating the odds, and people I think really would embrace it right now.

But the main thing against it is the lack of Adrian imo.

Rocky 5 was just bad. But the Rocky films showed incredible consistency over a 9 year period:

Rocky IV $237,448,883.34 $37,122,313.21
Rocky III $278,359,301.03 $27,873,590.38
Rocky $362,823,515.97 N/A
Rocky II $223,713,465.63 $16,783,434.22
Rocky V $63,810,494.55 $21,931,521.66

Here are the adjusted openings and totals for the Rocky films. Rocky I-IV were very big, and this character is quite timeless. I think they just botched Rocky 5, but coming off the biggest Rocky of them all unadjusted (Rocky IV), Rocky 5 would have made alot had it been a GOOD movie.

I just doubt a horror movie with popular actors is trying to emulate a quickie slasher movie starring a wrestler. Just a hunch.

If The Omen doesn't do well, I'd guess that Saw III will jump back to October 27. Although I do think Halloween will work for Saw III more than 06/06/06 will work for The Omen, considering that Halloween has proven to be a big movie-going day.

Hmmm, not sure about Saw III's move...but one thing for sure: It'd guarantee it a $10+ million opening day for sure.

That Saw III move makes no sense. Why not get both the weekend money and the Halloween money? People would be more inclined to go see a horror movie the weekend before Halloween, rather than the weekend after, when the holiday season gets rolling.

I think it'll move back.

I think a $40 million opening weekend was possible if it stuck with the weekend.

I agree. And it would get a nice boost on the Tuesday as well. Even though the legs will be shit due to the extreme frontloading, it could do very well.

I doubt it'll stay on the Tuesday.

Dammit...why'd Saw III have to move? I was finally getting all excited over the fact that a movie better than Blair Witch Project 2 was going to come out on my b-day.

Bad move for Saw III.

The weekend before would help give it an almost long 5 day weekend.
