After this weekend it will be around 407M. THG managed to do another 27.5M after 7th weekend. CF will have 26.5M lead of THG after 7th weekend and will make more over 7th weekend than THG. 8th and 9th weekend should be similar for both movies and weekdays too.

So when was the last time a number 1 movie domestically was headlined by a female star without a remarkable male lead/co-star? I think it's safe to say that none of her male co-stars share any sort of top billing with her.

$415 million is the absolute floor for Catching Fire now. Which is kind of terrific after its opening weekend. Its legs have been much much better than I would have anticipated. I mean for a movie like this to pull off a 2.6 multiplier is kinda amazing, even during the holiday season. WoM definitely had an effect and the fact that it ended up being the only truly HYPED movie of the holiday season. Mockingjay I might not top its total, but we will see another opening weekend increase based on some great goodwill after part 2 and probably increased frontloading once again. I'll be surprised if the third film makes less than $170 million in its opening.

Its legs have been phenomenal. Even with a fall MJ1 should cross $400m IMO.

Yeah ... everybody thought that. Show me one post that called Catching Fire having better legs than the first. It defies all the rules of young adult book adaptations.

Well, it currently has worse legs, and will need more than $422.6m (which it is not guaranteed to make) to get "better legs", with which most people with common sense will label that "the same legs".

Too bad it freefell on the post-Thanksgiving weekend, with a slightly lower drop (= an average -60%) it would have passed the 440M mark.

Quality of the film helped quite a lot ^^^

It helped convince a lot of people who watched THG to watch CF as well.

Catching Fire is at 402 right now. New Moon made 11 million from this point on, so if CF were to make double that, 22 million, it would finish with around 425. Not tooooo far off from 450.

Same legs as The Hunger Games, and $26m is quite far from the intention of this club, which isn't that Catching Fire will finish with $450,000,000, but that it will make "more than $450m" (hence the + following the sum).

I seriously hope Mockingjay 1 can get past the sucky first half of the book and make another awesome movie and get another $400mil movie!
