Congrats Proud and Xiayun :)

I was 103rd. I'm actually surprised I didn't rank lower.

Post Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
I think I'll do awful in this Derby. Considering I started predicting in December for The Inferno, this is my first time I'm doing predictions with a huge opener like IM2. I have no idea how other movies will react. I looked up previous big openers, but it seems there's not a firm pattern there. Drops ranged from normal, to slightly bigger to big, and it doesn't seem like the rules is the bigger the opener, the bigger the drops are... Weird...

Great job xia! Congrats to the rest of the KJ clique!

I'm finally back in the Top 100 again! Took me 7 weeks. Hahaha... The Losers really pulled me down...

Big fail weekend. Mistake on one of the numbers was the least of the problems.

Nice work xiayun! You and the winner had a hefty margin over #3.

Wow, I got 22.22% on The Losers. Wow. That hurts.

The Babies boost really hurt me. I had it at 1.3M for the weekend. Still
ended up in 42nd though, I can live with that.

Congrats xiayun, Scott, Keyser Soze, and Gopher

I was 70th for the week. I foolishly thought that Kick-Ass and The Losers can co-exist with Iron Man.

Not yet. The Back-Up Plan still has an incorrect actual that I just emailed BOM about. That alone could account for a 2% difference between my and Scott's score, for example.

Yes, I should be in the top ten instead of 14, cause many of the people above me went high on Back Up Plan, so they should be going down on the charts. Also, the person in second should be the winner cause the Back Up Plan number will swing in his favor. Either way, great games from the both of us.

If my calculation is correct, you should be jumping all the way to No. 3.

Great scores nevertheless. I screwed myself completely with Furry Vengeance and The Back Up Plan. Furry was always a nightmare for me to predict.

It's official that the scores won't be corrected. Don't feel good about stealing a win by such a small margin due to an error, but happy about the 7-2-2 (my actual ranking) stretch I've had.

Congrats to Scott and Shawn for the excellent scores!

Wow. That really puts a giant asterisk on the entire box office mojo derby game. What a shame they don't care enough to fix it. I think we should all send emails in protest.

This is what I wrote to BOM:

"According to xiayun, the scores for the Box Office Derby for the game ending 5/16 will not be corrected with the correct actual for The Back Up Plan, from the incorrect 2.8 to the correct 2.4. I sincerely hope this is not true, because that really puts a damper on the game as a whole. It robs a player of a deserved win (and skews everyone else’s scores), and any player who has come in both 1st and 2nd (as I have) can tell you there is a big difference between placing 1st and 2nd.

Please reconsider rescoring the game with the correct number. Otherwise I and other players in the future will always know that we could be robbed of a win on our record by a known error that no one cared to fix. These types of oversights can really add up and make a significant dent in the reputation and perceived quality of a website. I would prefer to see a high standard and solid reputation maintained for the site in general, and I’m sure everyone else would as well (except for perhaps your competitors).

Thank you,"

This issue really rubs me wrong. It is a slap in the face to their most devoted users. I'm sure many of them are premium subscribers. I am not, so maybe they don't care as much about my opinion. For any who do pay them though, I urge you to send them your opinion about this if you feel the same way:

Same for me but we would never do a such a thing on our site and always make corrections when they are necessary. This is ridiculous, I mean that was just a typo, not some wrong estimate or number.

From the email I have with them, it's not really that they don't care, but rather it's much more difficult to fix it than simply correcting a number. I think their derby database is set up in a way that once something is pushed and populated, it's hard to revert it cleanly without risking to damage the integrity of the whole database, so they choose not to touch it. They need to address that issue first so that it's set up the same way as the database behind the main daily/weekly/yearly charts.

I don't know. I think they don't want to go that extra mile. I'm sure the game of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was re-scored after it turned out that HP was underestimated by $2m.

I'll have a horrible score. Under 70% if the estimates hold.

And considering my score always drops with the estimates... Ugh.
