My man who saw it recently says the black guy randomly has a huge role and sucks. Hoping Nolan didnt overthink himself on this one...

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
Interstellar does looks like it will divide people, but it should spur conversation in a similar way that Gone Girl and Inception did, which should help.

Yeah, there's no way it will miss $125m at this point.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
Clearly not true. Hipsters and people that know nothing about film (but obviously don't admit it) need critic reviews to decide whether to love or hate a particular film. Twitter, and the Internet in general, has consistently failed to affect a film's performance.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
I care about Interstellar for sure, I want to see it. But I don't care about critics reviews, MC scores, top critics reviews and scores etc. It's all bullshit. Trying to find some pattern among other people's reviews. Just get a fucking life.

Wow, 69% on RT currently. I definitely expected better reviews for this.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
Word of mouth, word of mouth, word of mouth. That's all that will matter.
Trying to equate critic scores with a film's quality and possible audience reaction is stupid at best. Films like Passion of the Christ and Phantom Menace say hello. They got terrible critic reviews, yet displayed extraordinary box office legs. Their quality is very arguable, but word of mouth was strong enough to give them exceptional legs.
Also films like Avatar and Curse of the Black Pearl say hello. Their critic reviews were good, but not fantastic. Critic reviews absolutely did not detract from the legs and audience love for these films. Both of these films were (and are) beloved by audiences and they both displayed tremendous legs.
Finally, RT score for Interstellar is way out of whack. Too few reviews, missing plenty of recent reviews, and too many negative reviews from nobody critics. Missing too many top critic reviews as well. RT score should stabilize near 80%.
7 days until this hits, cannot wait!

I believe The Phantom Menace had a score in the 60's before its 3d re release. And Avatar has an 87% I believe? Not badly received by critics at all, nor is Interstellar. It just isn't the universally beloved perfect film people were hoping for. You may as well throw Forrest Gump in there as another example.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
TPM was the most hyped Sequel in history.
Avatar had the new 3D tech and a novelty in visuals.
Unless this has a novelty like Inception did, then i do not understand the references to the other films.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
I was kind of expecting out-of-this-world reviews like Gravity had early on. It will still obviously be a hit and I'm sure audiences will enjoy it. But it's not as well-reviewed as I expected so far and it's not winning Best Picture.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
If it's trying to be Nolan's 2001: A Space Odyssey, I think it will struggle. It might be too hard to digest for mainstreamers.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
If this were immersive 3D, do you guys think it would be received better and/or gross more?
Hard for me to say without seeing it, but I suspect the answer may be yes to both. And yeah, I realize Nolan doesn't ever want to film in 3D, so this is purely hypothetical.

 Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions
I don't really care, but for those that do... RT score is quickly going up with each new review. There have been a flood of reviews not added on RT yet, virtually all of them positive. Fascinating how virtually all of the negative reviews for the film so far were added almost right away by RT, but they're taking their sweet ass time in adding the big flood of positive reviews that keep coming in. To add to the irony, virtually all of the negative reviews are from a bunch of nobody critics that are likely hipsters just trying to get clicks on their page. Lastly (I can go into a whole essay about this but won't bother), the negative reviews do not show very many true legitimate criticisms. Most of them to sum it up simply are metaphorically saying "I'm too kool for Nolan's skool" and literally saying the movie's too complicated and convoluted and makes them think a lot, and they don't like that. RT score will probably end around 83-86% or so, very close to Inception's and TDKR's score. Been hearing some wonderful praise about some very odd characters in the film, the Star Wars 1977 comparisons are lovely .
