The international circuit entered the dog days of summer over the weekend with "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" still on top in its third overseas frame with $42.7 million grossed from 13,200 locations in 64 markets.

The take for the sixth title in Warner Bros.' multi-billion-dollar franchise dropped almost 50% from the second weekend but nonetheless moves "Prince's" foreign boxoffice tally to nearly a half-billion dollars ($492.3 million) and its worldwide total to $747.7 million.

Weekend action in the U.K. was a mighty $5.1 million from 573 screens for a market cume of $66.5 million. Japan produced $5.7 million from 695 sites; cume, $50.8 million. Germany came up with $4.7 million from 1,373 locations for a cume of $48.2 million, while France generated $4.6 million from 750 sites for a cume of $40.3 million.

492,3 mln.

HP5 is catching up. Difference between it and HP6 is down from 51m to 38m.

HP5 had few more markets opening after its release date. Plus it showed much better legs than Hp6. I am thinking around 640M for HP6.

Dropped just less than 50%...at least it's stabalising. It may be able to claw back some ground next weekend...HP5 only had $25m. But the 5th week drop might be trick to emulate.

Still this is on track for $650m i think.

AUSTRALIA (AUD$) - Weekend 3

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is at $515m going into the weekend.

HP6 added another $22m since Sunday's $493m gross. That's quite strong actually and sets up for a good drop this weekend I think. We should expect somewhere between $30-35m and a stablisation.

Ice Age 3 on the other hand is $555.2m, adding around $7m since Sunday. $600m is just about locked....though it needs to pull in even better holds if it is to pass $630m.

At the momment, seems targeted for $610-620m.

Don't forget: IA3 will get a second wind August 28th with Italy opening... (don't know how much South Korea will add August 13th though)...

Oh yes, almost forgot about them. LOL $630m+ it is. LOL

BTW - in 5 weeks, Ice Age 3 has already grossed $38m+ in Brazil....making it the 2nd largest movie of all-time in that market behind Titanic's $67.1m. Huge gross.

Potter made 44M last weekend(49.5M including thursday based on last thu SD update). Without any opener how on earth will it have that small a drop.

That's a 30% drop, not unachievable.

It dropped 50% over the weekdays. How on earth it will suddenly have such strong legs without any boost. May be obon boost will really help japan next week other than that it will have normal boring holds.
