Are you sure it was 206? I remember seeing 251M being posted. And SM3 having around 230.

Archangel has charts, Ive seen them when AWE opened.
I think it would be about 4th or 5th (biggest 5-day total WW). SM3 and AWE being 1st and 2nd, and I think Sith was around 350? I think. Not 100% sure, but Sith was really high.
And OS, it's like....3rd I believe, behind SM3 and AWE.
Keep in mind AWE and SM3 opened everywhere (save India and CHina for AWE) their first weeks. Potter still has some big ones left.

UK and Australia seem very high, France and Italy are okay, nothing exciting there, Germany is very low. I don't know what about the others, I would need to have the 3-day numbers and some comparisons. Overall, not bad.

The opening number in Thailand..
It made about 62m from Thursday - Saturday, with the estimated number for the opening weekend (Thursday - Sunday) about 82m..
that's about US$2.7m
which, if I remember correctly.. on par with AWE and behind SM3
.
.
I still can't believe I have to wait till August 15!!

You do know that the book only comes out in english-speaking countries, right? I don't think the drops will be a steep in many of those countries, especially Germany where the weekend was deflated.

You are just worried Why would it go down almost 70%. That would be very unprecident. And I will say it again. The book will not be out in most of those countries. It won't be releasd in most of Europe, Asia, Africa or Latin America. So it won't effect anything there. Sure it could drop 50% but that would be the most.

'Potter' rules the world Boy wizard dominates international box office
By DAVE MCNARY
Pottermania ruled the world as the opening weekend of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" dominated international moviegoing with a socko $190.3 million from more than 12,000 prints.
The launch represented the third biggest international opening frame ever, trailing only "Spider-Man 3" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."
Warner Bros.' fifth "Potter" pic finished first in all 61 markets in which it opened, setting marks as the biggest four-day launch in the U.K. at $32.5 million, the second-biggest openings ever in Mexico at $10 million and Brazil at $7.1 million and the fifth-largest in Australia at $14.4 million, South Korea at $12.1 million and Italy at $11 million. And its German launch of $18.7 million matched "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" as the top Teutonic opening of the year.
All told, "Phoenix" obliterated any concerns over franchise fatigue as it conjured up the best foreign debut of the five "Potter" films. The quintet's now grossed a collective $2.6 billion overseas and $3.9 billion worldwide, with two more pics -- "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" -- coming in 2008 and 2010.
Hollywood's mega-tentpoles continue to connect with international moviegoers this summer. Even though Warner Bros. won't open "Phoenix" in Japan and Russia until next weekend, it conjured the same kind of overwhelming overseas launch as "Spider-Man 3" ($231 million in a six-day foreign debut) and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" ($216 million in its first five-day weekend and $245 million in its first six days).
With its gangbusters foreign opening, "Phoenix" has also solidified sky-high expectations that it will become the 16th film to gross half a billion dollars overseas -- a distinction shared by "Pirates 3," "Spider-Man 3" and all four previous Potter pics. And with "Transformers," "Shrek the Third" and "Live Free or Die Hard" remaining potent players -- combining for $73 million during the weekend --Hollywood studios kept pedal to the metal with year-to-date grosses 13% ahead of 2006 overseas.
Key international milestone for "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" will be matching the perf of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," the only other pic in the series released during the summer and the lowest grosser at $540 million.
One of the most impressive signs of "Phoenix" fever came in Italy, where studios have opted out of mid-summer openings due to the perceived reluctance of Italians to patronize multiplexes in hot weather. "Phoenix" was the first major pic to open in mid-July in the seven years since "Mission: Impossible 2" and its success will probably pave the way for more Italian summer launches.
Warners didn't announce results from Japanese sneaks for "Phoenix" in advance of Friday's opening. Japan's been by far the top overseas market for the prior "Potter" pics with more than $500 million in grosses, so next weekend's total international takings should top $100 million.
More on the menu
It wasn't all wizards and witches at international multiplexes.
Par's "Transformers" continued to exceed expectations with solid traction outside the United States, landing $35.9 million at 3,793 playdates in 33 territories -- including a foreign launch record in China of $12.6 million over its first five days.
"Transformers" remained respectable in its third South Korean frame with a 47% decline to $5.7 million, boosting the market's cume to $38 million. The Michael Bay vehicle -- which has yet to open in France, Germany, Japan, Mexico and the U.K. -- has already hit $146.4 million overseas.
"Shrek the Third," Par's other summer tentpole, didn't vanish amid competition from Harry Potter, posting a 48% decline to $18.7 million at 5,390 in 54 markets. The ogre's Brit biz slid 51% to $5 million in its third frame, lifting the U.K. cume to $61.1 million; foreign biz has met studio expectations with $361.5 million, or 75% of the final international cume for "Shrek 2," with Italy and Scandinavia still to open.
Fox's "Live Free or Die Hard" took the biggest hit from Harry Potter, sliding 58% to $17.7 million at 6,900 in 49 markets. The actioner fell 62% in soph seshes in the U.K. and France to $3.9 million and $2.6 million, respectively; in Japan, with "Potter" only in sneak screenings, the third frame held nicely with a 24% decline to $2.5 million.
The Bruce Willis actioner, known as "Die Hard 4" overseas, has taken in $123 million overseas so far, in line with studio forecasts, as Fox has held off in key markets such as Italy, Spain and South Korea, where it'll open the pic next weekend. But it's unlikely to match the $260 million international cume for series' prior installment, "Die Hard With a Vengeance."
With rivals mostly clearing out of the way of Harry Potter, the only other significant biz came from a quartet of holdovers -- BVI's "Ratatouille" with $5.8 million at 2,098 in 13 markets and its "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" with $4.4 million at 4,746; Warner's "Ocean's Thirteen" with $4.35 million at 3,400 in 54 territories; and Fox's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" with $3.2 million at 4,000 in 39 markets.
The third "Pirates" has reached $634.8 million internationally, trailing "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" by just $7.4 million. Global grosses are at $939 million.
Universal, which has been holding off most of its slate until later in the summer, saw decent Australian biz from its soph sesh of "Knocked Up," down 33% to $2 million for a $6.7 million cume, nearly matching "The 40 Year Old Virigin" in its first foreign market.
Sony, which has stopped reporting "Spider-Man 3" grosses, scared up $1 million for "Hostel 2" at 850, lifting the international cume to $12.3 million.

Huge numbersveverywhere - but not that we didn't expect them.
It's opening in the UK was just above Shrek 3 and comes in as the 2nd largest opening overall behind HP3.
IN Australia the $14.4m is for the entire 5-Days, a record.....as the articular says it was probably 5th for the regular 4-Day weekend.
Italy's opening is not record breaking but anything above $11m is huge...

From Moviemarshal....
It's going to be close RT I've got $2.93 with some large locations still to be recorded. $16.7 thus far. Does this put Potter on track for fastest past $20 million in 2007?
Looking ahead not much coming out against Potter next weekend, basically a whole lot of second tier Distributors releasing, with Paramount hoping for something for "Premonition".
Looks like it's going to end up very close to $17m....it needs only $3m in the next two days to equal ROTK's record of the fastest to AUD$20m (7-Days). Don't think it'll be able to do it on Monday because school is back in order and people have to go to work....
....it'll be interesting to see how it drops next week...on one hand there's no new openers....but on the other, surely it will have a mega drop after this school holiday boosted takings...

Pirates opened to $216m (didn't open in China and India)....Japan contributed $16m......so you can say that HP5 and AWE are about level pegging...since HP5 didn't open in as many territories as Pirates 3.....AWE was ub 102 territories and over 17,600 screens.,..

After that, it should get quite cool and rainy, before it gets better in August, though that's still too far away to have any kind of good forecast.
If that forecast holds up, Harry Potter should be able to get a really good second weekend. If it doesn't happen it wouln't be because of the weather.
really bad timing for potter with the weather and such......i'm sure it'll hold well on second weekend...it has to...or else, this one is not going to do any better than awe...

Harry Potter weaves a magical international opening for Warner Bros
Jeremy Kay in Los Angeles
16 Jul 2007 10:15
http://www.screendaily.com/ScreenDailyA ... &Category=
Warner Bros weaved a magical opening for Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix at the weekend as the fifth episode in the fantasy saga conjured up an estimated $190.3m from 44 territories.
Approximately 31 people overseas turned out to see the film, which amassed $330m around the world in what has become the studio and franchise's biggest ever international and global opening, and the third biggest international debut in history.
Pound-for-pound this is actually the biggest international launch in history, because while Spider-Man 3 and Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End scored higher international openings earlier this summer, both launched in more than 100 territories. Order Of The Phoenix's weekend result includes a record overseas IMAX result of $2.1m from 35 prints.
Jubilant executives at Warner Bros Pictures International (WBPI) announced the company had crossed $1bn in international receipts - the seventh consecutive year it has reached the milestone - and has already reached $1.15bn.
Order Of The Phoenix opened number one in all its markets and produced a string of records, notably the biggest four-day opening and the second biggest three-day launch in the UK behind Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire thanks to a $32.5m (£16.15m) haul and 3.3 admissions from 1,390 prints.
Germany generated what is expected to be the biggest launch of the year on $18.8m (€13.8m) and 2 admissions from 1,300 prints, while France produced the year's biggest opening on a par with Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End with $16.9m (€12.4m) and 2.1 admissions from 950.
Arguably the most noteworthy result was the $11m (€8.1m) launch in Italy that drew 1.3 admissions from 837 prints. This marked the first major summer release in the territory since Mission: Impossible II in 2000 and produced the second biggest opening weekend in the franchise behind Goblet Of Fire and the fifth biggest industry opening.
Whether the other studios will now follow suit and attempt to overturn the Italian summer's recent reputation for miserly returns remains to be seen, but WBPI believes it may have found the formula for success. "It is our belief that if you give the audience the right movies, the Italian summer corridor will expand, and we can make Italy a 12-month movie going reality," WBPI's distribution chief Veronika Kwan-Rubinek said.
It remained unclear whether WBPI will release the Wachowski Brothers' upcoming Japanese animation adaptation Speed Racer or Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight during the summer in Italy next year alongside other territories.
Order Of The Phoenix scored further franchise records in: Spain on $10.6m (€7.8m) and 1.4 admissions from 600 prints; Australia on $14.4m (A$16.8m) and 1.6 admissions from 500 for the industry's fifth biggest opening weekend; and South Korea on $12.1m (KRW 11.1bn) and 1.75 admissions from 390 for the industry's fifth biggest opening weekend.
The film also set new franchise records and the industry's second biggest openings in Mexico on $10m (Ps 107.6m) and 2.6 admissions from 1,030, and Brazil on $7.1m (R$13.4m) and 1.7 admissions from 725 prints. Coming up are launches in Russia on Jul 19, Japan on Jul 20, and China on Aug 11.
==================
Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End consolidated its position as the fifth biggest international release as $4.4m from 4,746 screens in 96 territories nudged the tally to $634.8m. Passing the second Pirates film's $642.2m final gross for fourth place is now just a question of time.
Globally At World's End also ranks fifth on $939m. Japan was the key driver this weekend and generated $1.8m from 657 screens to become the film's biggest territory on $81.7m.
