Currently 11pm, here are some of the sellouts today at VillageCinemas
AUSTRALIA - Saturday (Day 3)
Knox (13 sessions) - 4:30pm, 9:30pm
Sunshine (12 sessions) - no sellouts
Southland (12 sessions) - 4:30pm, 9:30pm
Crown Casino (11 sessions) - 9:30pm
Jam Factory (9 sessions) - 6:10pm
Fountain Gate (9 sessions) - no sellouts
Century City (9 sessions) - 4:30pm
Dandenong (9 sessions) - no sellouts
Airport West (9 sessions) - no sellouts
Karringal (8 sessions) - no sellouts
Geelong (8 sessons) - no sellouts
Morwell (8 sessions) - no sellouts
So yeah down on Friday sellouts, but the afternoon sessions would obviously be much stronger.

Omega Supreme wrote: AUSTRALIA (AUD$) - Opening Day
Brilliant start to week. Transformers opening to approximately $2m in Australia, one of the largest opening days of all-time and the largest non-sequel/franchise opening day ever.
It was up at least 67% over WOTWs Wednesday opening and 9% ahead of Terminator 3's opening day. What's so great is that it's this year's 2nd largest opening day so far, beating Shrek 3 and Spiderman 3....falling just short of Pirates 3. If it follows the same weekend multiplier as Spiderman 3 (AUD$9.5m opening weekend), it's headed for an opening weekend close to $10.5m. I'm not sure if it'll be as ferocious as Spiderman over the week, since that movie caters for a more family friendly crowd (Transformers would've exhausted its core fanbase in the first couple of days).....though it should open to at least $8m opening weekend with $9-10m more likely. Stay tuned.

Estimates from Moviemarshal.com.au............
Slightly disappointed in TRANSFORMERS Saturday $2.1+ on early estimates for a haul of $5.9+ so far. Sunday should show a pretty good hold with school holidays in the mix. Will be happy with anything post $8 million. Would be great to see a non-sequel blockbuster.
SHREK weathering well, $1.2 - 1.3 accum for the weekend through saturday on estimates, not entirely sure that's going to be enough to catch AWE which looks certain now for $32+. Always pleased when a movie defies the critics, as SHREK has managed to do.
F4 looks headed for sub $10 million given another weekend fall of post 50%.
Ouch for HOSTEL 2, if you thought last weekend's drop was heavy wait till Paul's actuals Mon/Tues. Have been death riding this movie, it's not a good advertisement for the horror genre end of day.
Another great hold for ROMULUS coming up
Overall good weekend shaping up with five movies earning $1 million plus.
==================
AUSTRALIA - Day 3
Remember, the article says those figures are still not official, so it could well go up a couple thousand....though this is a brilliant performance by Transformers so far.
Let's compare it to some other blockbusters around this range:
Thursday:
The Matrix: Revolutions - $2.4m
Transformers - $2m
Spiderman - $1,725,463
Spiderman 2 - $1.6m
Friday:
The Matrix: Revolutions - $1.91m
Spiderman - $1.9m
Transformers - $1.7m
Spiderman 2 - $1.65m
Saturday:
Spiderman - $3.23m
The Matrix: Revolutions - $2.22m
Transformers - $2.1m+
Spiderman 2 - $2.1m
Sunday:
Spiderman - $3.645m*
Spiderman 2 - $1.8m
The Matrix: Revolutions - $1.55m
===
So yeah, it didn't increase as expected on Saturday, the sellouts didn't suggest that this would break out to the extent of Spiderman 3. So we can definately say goodbye to $9m opening weekend. It needs another $2m on Sunday to hit $8m, but i think that's unlike considering Saturday is just $2.1m. This is probably going to finish around $7.7m or something.
Still a great opening but somewhat dissapointing considering the large opening day.

Transformers' Opens in South Korea
By BO-MI LIM
Associated Press Writer
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- Steven Spielberg's "Transformers" premiered Thursday in theaters in South Korea, after notching up the country's highest online ticket bookings of any movie this year.
The action film - featuring vehicles that transform into warring robots - will initially be shown on some 530 screens nationwide, rising to around 700 by the weekend, distributor CJ Entertainment said.
Directed by Michael Bay and produced by Spielberg, "Transformers" will be released in U.S. theaters Tuesday. Josh Duhamel, Jon Voight and Shia LaBeouf star in the film.
"The graphics were just awesome, truly the best science-fiction movie I've ever seen," said Oh Kyung-chul, a 21-year-old student, after watching a morning show in Seoul. "I hope they come out with sequels. I will definitely go to watch them."
Before its Thursday debut, advance online bookings for the DreamWorks and Paramount production outweighed all bookings for other movies in South Korea, with the reservation rate hovering at over 80 percent of all online movie ticket reservations, said CJ Entertainment Publicity Manager Jessica Kim.
She said no other film has had such strong pre-screening bookings in South Korea this year. Figures for the total number of reserved tickets weren't immediately available.
"Movies that do well in South Korea tend to do well in other parts of Asia," Kim said, attributing the trend in part to the growing popularity of South Korean movies, TV dramas and music across the region.
"A movie's popularity in Asia seems to be affected by its popularity in South Korea," she said. "In that sense, South Korea has emerged as an important movie market in Asia in recent years."
"Transformers" will be released elsewhere in Asia later this week, Kim said.

LOL 34 million is nothing. Transformers will do horrible in Europe and at best will only make 400 million OS. Also I read that they moved TR up in England to the 21st. Are they crazy? The farther away from Potter on its home turf will be the smart move, especially with the last book coming out that weekend. TR killed themselves in England.

That is very very stupid. I hope they come to their senses.

Paramount also saw stalwart numbers from "Transformers," which logged the top per-location average with $15,35, as the disrib opted for playing into local holidays plus distancing itself from Warner's mid-July launch of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." South Korea sparked to "Transformers" in the fourth biggest launch ever with $12.4 million at 549 while the Michael Bay pic posted the best 4-day launch ever in Singapore with $1.7 million.
"Transformers" led in all 10 of its markets, including Australia with $6.7 million, Italy with $3.6 million, Taiwan with $3 million and the Philippines with $2.1 million; in eight of those, it topped "War of the Worlds," which rang up a stellar $357 million overseas in 2005. "Transformers" moves into a dozen more markets next weekend, including Russia, Spain and Scandinavia.

$3m in Taiwan! That's way better than what the big three 3s opened to. Come on mainland, you at least got to double that.

Wow, what a bummer, only 6.7m in Australia, nowhere near the 9m, or even 10m, that were deemed possible after opening day figures came in. And a very disappointing Italy start. While it's known Europe might not be that kind to Transformers i still expected a little more than that...

Italy is always a very unpredictable market and gives us no clue where TF is headed in Europe. Much more interesting will be Spain next weekend...

No Nazgul - we were talking in AUD. That $6.7m is in USD. It actually made over $8m AUD over the weekend which is damn good. Its sunday hold was good. The next two weeks are school holidays so it will have great midweek numbers. Plus there is ALOT of competition at the moment.
