I think DP07 is on the money with this one, from the Yahoo grades it seems the legs will be cut shorter then I thought.

How did we miss the signs that the movie was going to flop nevermind the huge budget?Cruise backlash, Superman Returns, and the Village affecting LITW I could understand but what were the signs about MV doing this badly it seems
Is the public hate for Colin Farrell that big?

I guess....
. Not many people give a shit about seeing Vice being made into a movie
. Foxx & Farrell are getting on everyones nerves
. Gotta take a a few words from BKB's dictionary and say it looked overly serious.

I should have stuck with my earlier instincts at the beginning of this thread that it'd do less than expected.

Lets say it makes under 25 million this week. This will be a bigger bomb than Poseidon considering its budget is anywhere from 150-180million

Poseidon was budgeted at $160 million as well. And BOM's reporting $135 million for Vice, as well as other websites. And, Collateral made over $100 million internationally, too, so Vice might be strong as well. I don't think it'll be a bigger bomb.

I think MV will do worse at the BO, but sell better on DVD.

This is just sad and I'm glad I didn't bother to predict this.. I want to punch a kitten right now this is so depressing.. I'm seeing it tomorrow, but Christ.. I would've thought this would've done alot better than what it's going to do..

Woah. $130 million?
Dang. Where did the money go? It was stylish and the visual were good, but not $130 million good.

The 130 million was due to a huge amount of problems on the set. They had to delay the production six weeks after Colin Farrell did something to make one of his ribs go towards his sternum, something about it affecting his back, I don't remember precisely what. Anyways, when they started production back up again hurricanes rolled into the area (the movie was filmed on location too, which would have boosted the budget). If I remember correctly, they started filming in July and didn't wrap production until November/December.
Anyways, no matter how it opens I really don't see very good legs in the long run. I've talked to a few people who have seen it, and the first film that came to mind based on what they were saying was The Village. "It looked like it was full of action but there was only one action scene, and for the rest of the movie everyone just sat around and mumbled."

I've lowered my anticipation a lot for this movie. I was really looking forward to it.

Same here. I still can't imagine what the heck could have gone wrong there

I always thought that remakes of TV shows were humourous. Now bear with me on this one...even though I know MV was a serious show, I always thought that the fact that they were going for the whole serious tone just didn't fit. Instead of calling it Miami Vice they could have called it ":GENERIC UNDERCOVER COP MOVIE DIRECTED BY MICHAEL MANN". When i first heard it was coming out, I got the feeling that it was going to be a comedy. Right or wrong, that's impression I got. But with this rendition of it, i didn't know what to think. So I predicted over 30 mill just like everyone else did, because i thought everyone knew something i didn't. I just don't think anyone asked for this film and if the low 20's numbers ends up being right, Jamie Foxx can actually be blamed for it as he told Mann to make it.

Yeah when I think about it, they really should have kept the 80s theme while trying to keep the serious tone of the movie. It could have been like scarface and with the 80s nostalgia around especially with Vice City popularizing the whole big 80s city era, it would have been a good idea

2/3 of it's audience was aged over 30, so that could help it's legs a bit.
