AMC Empire 25 on 42nd Street has 24 sellouts and 54 shows for Thursday evening.   That's like a town by itself.  It's also 15/70 ( 70 shows) on Friday.  7/65 on Saturday and 1/64 on Sunday.  253 shows at one theater from Thursday evening - Sunday evening.  Pretty mind boggling, and its still Wednesday night.

Note: I'm considering any reserved seatings showing that are ~90% full to be sold out. I found the data I had for Deathly Hallows 2 around Thursday 2PM: 89/109 2D, 26/35 3D, 5/5 IMAX.

Good lord at the difference in 3D showings.

Previews posted one more sellout than previous record holder potter7.2 (33 pre-release sellouts, all at midnight), and setting the overall pre-release previews record with 78 sellouts, more than doubling potter7.2s old record.

Yeah it's going to finish well north of 30+ sellouts tonight. Probably the most I've seen here since DH2, although I can't remember the exact number. I'm sure that was biggest though in terms of pure midnight showings.

yeah downtown theater running shows 24 hours for this and the graveyard showings are still 50% full or more.

Surely no film has had this many showings.

The wacky thing is, at least in this area.

This will likely be challenging JW and TA for Friday Day Business records.

What trailers did you guys get? We didn't get X-Men or BvS. Ugh. Got Fifth Wave (wtf), Zootopia, Kung Fu Panda 3, Kubo and the Two Strings, Independence Day and Civil War.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (very surprised, electric reaction at "Lumos maxima!" at the beginning)
Zootopia (mild chuckles throughout, but the sloth's slow laughing got a biiiiig reaction)
The Secret Life of Pets (chuckles at stuff that was also in the old trailer, but strong reactions to the newer stuff - the poodle bit at the end kills still too)

probably sold out more showings with walk up business as strong as it was here.

My crowd seemed to really enjoy it overall. These were Star Wars fans not general public so you had cheers and claps during the opening, character appearances and certain sequences. Lots of laughing at the comedy and what have yous.

Some reaction to batman v sup, good reaction to Kung fu panda, there was another that the audience really liked but I no longer remember.

Surprised there wasn't a civil war trailer or finding dory teaser.

People got a kick out of Zootopia trailer the slow as sloths working in the DMV scene

Heading into Friday The Force Awakens has already sold out 23/79 showings, (first showing is in 40 minutes)

It's not even noon yet and this is already exceeding if not on par with the crazy business of DH2. I'm seeing random morning, matinee, evening and night sellouts popping up all over the place. It's going to be beasting all day it seems.

Going into 1pm showing and the theater is packed

Saw the 1:45 pm show at the Century 25.

367 seats, only the first three rows available.

The crowd cheered when the original characters came up. At the end of the film, there was big applause. As for myself, I thought it is the best Star Wars to date. Not only does it please the fans, but also the general audience. Great writing, real characters, and sharp dialogue make this not only a great Star Wars movie, but a great film period.
