If there was ever a superhero film that could work witha PG rating, its Superman. It terms of tone, I don't see the film being much darker than The Incredibles.
There have been dark storylines throughout the DC Superman universe, but they're many films down the pipeline, if ever even produced.

If it's PG it will help.
I am becoming confident that it will at least earn 200m. It's tracking strongly on every buzz indicator I've seen, and it will have a very wide audience. I think it will open over 100m and finish near 300m, although it's probably one of the most difficult to predict this summer.

I think making this movie PG is the kiss of death for this and makes it out to look too squeeky clean in a time when PG-13 is the in-thing to rate a movie.. I really don't hear too many kids talking about a new SUPERMAN movie if that's what the WB is aiming for so that's not a good thing either..

Superman (1978)
MPAA Rating: PG for peril, some mild sensuality and language.
Superman 2 (1980)
MPAA Rating: PG

pg-13 didnt come into play till 1984. Superman would of probably been PG-13 back then. Jaws and Indiana Jones were PG back in the 80s. Even Star Wars was PG but ROTS was PG-13

So, basically, it's going to be lighter than Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Oh, yeah. Looks like a good time...

well it obviously wont be r....but appearently theres a lot of moments of parril even violence(think last fight in spidey 1 violent)-superman gets stabbed, kicked in the face held under water..a plane is about to crash into a big building...itllbe a "solid" pg 13 due to the action. plot wil be pg-ish ala spiderman.

False information.
I'll just wait until I see the marketing instead of following your little schedule, excel.

Yeah, but you've been putting a strong emphasis on this marketing schedule and it's not even accurate.

Calling BKB out on useless bias fanboy nitpicking is pointless, because bkb doesn't really give a shit. That's why we all love him so much.

Ww..this film did very well in febuary-
#1 most anticpated film at askmen.com
Number 1
Superman Returns
Stage of production: Post-production.
Expected release date: June 30, 2006
Nerds all across the world have been waiting for this for years. This project has been in limbo forever, with names like Nicolas Cage (who actually named one of his sons Kal-El -- Superman's real name) and Kevin Smith (Clerks) attached to it at various times. Finally, Bryan Singer came onboard and got it off the ground. Newcomer Brandon Routh will play the Man of Steel, who returns to Earth after years of absence to find a world and a woman that have gone on without him.
What to look out for : Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane both sound promising. Comic book fans are savvy and won't take any one-dimensional crap, so look for Singer and friends to blow us away with a deep, rich blockbuster that could smash box-office records.
Rest of the list....

2006 Career Forescast
2006 is shaping up to be a big year for this emerging star. She is set to play Lois Lane in the potentially gigantic summer blockbuster Superman Returns , which boasts a $250 million budget and is directed by Usual Suspects-guy Bryan Singer. Bosworth is also starring in A Season of Dust, a Depression-era film about a girl taking over her family farm.

and this is with NO marketing since november while films like PIRATES 2 got 3 posters and a super bowl spot. imagine how much supermans buzz will swell when the marketing blitz really hits in june.
mean while the theatrical poster is due soon(though it wont be distribued o april). the theatrical traler will be out in april too but wont be getting big exposure to may 12th when it airs with poseidon. rumors are it will air on tv throughout May on Tv Finales before airing with X3 in a deal that gives X3 a trailer with V FOR VENDETTA in 3 weeks.

So is this Metallo supposed to be in the movie. It would be extremely dissappointing if he isnt. It would be just like rehasing the first movie with just Lex Luthor as the villian
Heres the trailer for the Superman Returns videogame where Metallo appears

Very wicked looking

As of the first teaser, I believe it will be big, but will not survive this particular strong summer season. 70/200 or 60/230. I will see after the new trailer about any new predictions.

Im still trying to get hyped for this movie but I really just cant, theres nothing so far that looks that interesting to me and I really dont think this Routh guy will be any good. The PG rating also makes the film less appealing to me.

If that Metallo thing is in the movie, that just completely rids me of any residual interest in the movie (though there really isn't any in the first place).
The movie may have a decent opening weekend, but it's in for some major downfall in its second.

I would think having Metallo in the movie would add to the appeal to the movie and more kids will want to watch it. If hes not in it, it would just seem like another rehash the first Superman movie with Lex Luthor vs Superman. To kids, it would be kind of like watching the Hulk with no real villian of superpower magnitude. We would only get to see Superman stop missiles, rescue a train from collapsing etc but nothing of him fighting a villian of his equal

Where does it say it will be PG?? I just can't believe that WB wouldn't step into the present day and make this PG-13..
