Re: Avengers Weekend #s Thread (Too Large, Needs Own Space)
Amazing for IW and now I can't wait to see what those actuals will look like. At least they went ahead and the record to IW instead of being bullish like they usually are even though they are still underestimating it quite a bit.

I wonder what a Harry Potter 9 with the original cast would do. Previews would be ridiculous.

The play is awesome, but the mains are very secondary to the new kids. The thing about Potter though, which was always frustrating was how consistent he was, even when you thought it was going to blowup and be bigger than ever it would counter with its horrible front loading. So the question stands, do they adapt the play, and be happy with the FB numbers. Or do they really try to go off script and make a new Harry Potter film.

Re: Avengers Weekend #s Thread (Too Large, Needs Own Space)
Jurassic World's OW should be memorable as well. The previous one was vastly underestimated, adjusts now to $232 m, had a fantastic 3.12 multiplier, and benefits from Pratt in The Avengers.
3/6 of the only films to open to over $200 m have done so in the last 4.5 months. With Jurassic World, could see 4/7 $200 m + openers in just a 6 month period.

Re: Avengers Weekend #s Thread (Too Large, Needs Own Space)
I think Pratt was hurt from this Avengers (Which is kind of crazy, he's the only actor where I am like, boy they fucked him over. Not only did they fat shame him, but he's the reason they lost ). And people didn't like Jurassic World, it was a Nostalgia rush. I think best case is 180 opening. I would not be surprised with something as low as 140

Well I'm shook.
I don't think even Ep 9 is gonna be anywhere near this. Could IW2 match this? Folks are gonna wanna figure out how this is resolved.
Ott, there seems to be nothing to challenge that insane number

Re: Avengers Weekend #s Thread (Too Large, Needs Own Space)
RTH says Sunday is heading for $68m on the low end and $73m on the high end. So Disney has underestimated it by at least $7m and possibly $12m. Crazy stuff.

Re: Avengers Weekend #s Thread (Too Large, Needs Own Space)
HP9 won't even get close.
The HP franchise has been consistently great but never mindblowing besides probably the first one.
Also if they go the way of the Cursed Child, it'll be the same mistake Star Wars did. Yes, I know TFA made $936m but long-term I feel it was the wrong decision to pull in older characters and shit on their storyline/character.

With the highest end of that range it will beat TFA's adjusted OW as well.
Queue is ready for Excel to come and tell that this is lower OW in admissions than TDK.

Re: Avengers Weekend #s Thread (Too Large, Needs Own Space)
What legs are people expecting from here to account for good WOM?
I believe these films have ceilings and in the Summer Game I predicted a 2.6x off a $250m OW which seemed really good for a massive opener?

Re: Avengers Weekend #s Thread (Too Large, Needs Own Space)
I'm thinking it will get to the average MCU multiplier of 2.8 for $728m total from $260m OW.

Re: Avengers Weekend #s Thread (Too Large, Needs Own Space)
It's kinda strange to look at the April top OW of all time. Anger Management's $42 m OW from 2003 held the monthly record for 6 years before Fast 4 brought it up to $71 m. Now it has the OW record. If you take out the Fast movies and Marvel movies the top film OW of April ever is Clash of the Titans at $61 m. There are still ONLY 11 movies ever in April to do over $40 m and only 20 to do over $30 m. For anyone keeping score, Feb and April now have more $200 m OW's than November, July, August, the same number as May and June. August now has the 4th lowest OW record holder ahead of only Jan/Sept/Oct. Feb/Mar/Apr have bigger OW record holders than July/August do.

TDKR sans shooting is still a thing? Oh well I am still disappointed as there was not much of a comeback. But I guess you can say that inflation has already caught up to more than $100m in 10 years..no?
