Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
Both Thursday night shows, 7pm and 10:30pm, at the Brenden's IMAX in Las Vegas are showing as sold out, although I'm not quite sure if I believe that. It is the only true IMAX in Vegas, tho.

It looks like only the big cities are selling them right now. I tried for my town where I will be over the holidays and nothing yet.

The Houston Edwards Marquee IMAX and RPX shows are about 99% sold out for Thursday. That's 4 shows (2 IMAX, 2 RPX). They will likely have to add some later shows after midnight.

With Sith got 5 too. I love anytime my non movie friends are hard ones. Even JW they were like I have to see, but not previews.

I drove like a madman to theatre last night to buy a couple tickets to the marathon after I found out the internet had crashed and my brother had not purchased tickets as he was instructed.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
Damn SW7 is already selling 95% of all tickets sold at MT. I dont remember any movie selling this big this far away. MJ2 was like 20% when it starting its pre-sales but it was alongside Martian OW which was also selling well. Now the market is quite dead and so SW7 is dominating big. Can it sustain or will it fall out of Top 5 after initial hysteria from SW fans.

Walk ups make up the overwhelming majority of business and those will be far less impressive.

SW7 will have even higher ration. Anyway all time biggest previews( BD2?) is definitely gone. I think DH2 record could be in play but not sure it will be able to grab all the screens that early. So it will need sizable number of shows post midnights to beat it. Possible but I would still say its unlikely. I would say somewhere between 35-40m for now.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part II (11/16/12) - $30.4 million is the preview record. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II (7/15/11) - $43.5 million (3,800 theaters/$11,447) is the midnight record. I'm sure it will be close.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
The ticket sales, poster release, trailer release, etc., for SW were really hyped up by the media in a way that Mockingjay was not. Without all the media hullabalooo, its likely people wouldn't evenh know tickets were on sale.

Finally!
I went to cinemark website and purchased 2 tickets to first showing (3D 7pm). I also purchased 1 ticket to the 1pm Friday 18th showing at Alamo Drafthouse. Mainly cause for extra $15 you get Star Wars beer stein and magazine celebrating 40 years of Star Wars
