I don't see much hype for it. I see much more for the final Hobbit.

Well of course you're going to have more hype for the last Hobbit movie. It's the last one!

I don't think Fox put it on the same day as a way to go head-to-head with it. I'm guessing their plan was to put it there as the beginning of an Oscar run (not sure how realistic that is) and because it can co-exist with the Hobbit. They're probably looking for something over $40 million on its opening weekend. The Hobbit might make triple that number, but it would still be a success for Fox because unless it's dog shit, it'll probably have good legs, as a lot of films this time of year tend to have.

Why does anyone want to see this?

It's basically a live action Prince of Egypt movie and I'm sure I must have seen it illustrated a billion times from other sources.

It's such a boring story too. Maybe its religious overtones will help it get to $150m+ but I wouldn't be surprised if it was completely ignored either. Stop making this movie.

I do want to see this though. The visuals look impressive, however, they don't seem to be wanting to appeal to the religious community and I think that will hurt it. Should do Noah numbers.

I'm in for $50M+ opening, but after Noah it is impossible to tell how the movie will be received.

A good proportion of people flock to whatever blockbuster is released, so that assures it will make at least $85m.

Out. But thanks to the christmas holiday it should do decent enough outpace Noah. It looks way to ridiculous for Christians to see, and too absurd for casual movie goers to say "Hey it's Moses kicking ass" Bale's draw doesn't do much here (Much like T4 did) He needs to be Batman or have films with fantastic reviews.

Early reviews for this are pretty MEH!. Everyone seems to only be praising the visuals and the scope, but are saying the characters are dull as shit. Defintely, not the next Gladiator, but that was expected.

Also, while I do think they are selling the spectacle of it well it still doesn't feel like there is as much excitement for it as it should be. I'm still confident it will open over $30M, but honestly I'm not even sure it will beat Noah's opening anymore.

While I did join this club my faith in this is fading. The way things are going this year it might not even reach $175m

I'll only see this if Moses crushes someone's head with one of the Commandment stones, as he screams all Bale like "Thou Shall not Kill, only me!"

Yep looks like $200m is not happening for this. It might do $100m and I don't see a $150m now for this.

There's a chance this doesn't hit 75 million now if Comingsoon is right. They're predicting only a 26 million opening. I think that's a little too low though. I think it should be able to hit 32-36 opening. 40 million would be making the best of the situation.

What went wrong?

It will open just under 30m so 120-30m total would be about as high as it goes.

This movie is so dead in the water. Nonexistent buzz combined with poor reviews equals a BIG underperformance in the making. I'm thinking a low/mid 30's opening at best now with holiday legs slightly pushing it over $100M.

Either way chalk this one up as a huge missed oppurtinity for Scott.
