I expect for this to be a mini version of Percy Jackson 2. $25m-$30m OW, $70-$80m total.

Indeed. I was watching the first movie. Then I need to change the ranges as I really think this will do about the same or slightly less than Percy 2.

I'm predicting $27M OW and a final total in the $70-75M range.

$1.1 million in previews, which I think started at 10PM.

That's a far cry from the 4.9 Million in midnights Divergent did. But this doesn't mean anything yet really. The books aren't as huge as the Divergent series.

Ender's Game did 1.4 Million in Thursday showings. That seems like the best comparison. That went on to a 27 Million weekend. I do think Maze can go on to a better opening though.

Ender's Game had a much bigger fanbase, so it would be more frontloaded.

Yeah but Ender's mostly appeals to men 25+. Maze Runner was hoping to attract both young males and females, which would make it more of a Friday movie. I think it can still get $10M today, which is fine, just not a break out.

Yes, a Friday movie. Last night was not Friday.

No it wasn't. It is the box office websites that combine them.

I know, I'm messing around, but I still think I'm right about Maze Runner's prospects. They should still greenlight The Scorch Trials for next September though.

Technically the studios release the numbers as midnights w/previews, so that some of the numbers do technically count towards Friday, but the studios won't specify which ones. So it still all goes back to the studio.
