Also, I'm not sure about you guys, but the three theaters by me (2 AMC) only had one 7pm showing each, no 10 or midnights, so really if there is only one show it doesn't really matter when the preview is.

 Re: Amazing Spider-Man 2 Previews
If that number started at 7 and nt 10/midnight, it's a really, really weak number.
That is around half of what Iron Man 3 did. Looking at weekend of around 90-94 million maximum.
No way in hell this beats Captain America.

 Re: Amazing Spider-Man 2 Previews
For a movie that would attract families over weekend that is Okish Number for it.
Still think it has chance from $ 90m to $100m

 Re: Amazing Spider-Man 2 Previews
I still think this has a chance to fall between $85-115 mil.

 Re: Amazing Spider-Man 2 Previews
That's actually quite reasonable, as long as people go to the movies this weekend. They may or may not. It could fall short of your $9 mil range.

If it opens with less than... $33.5 mil OD, I'll eat a shoe.

 Re: Amazing Spider-Man 2 Previews
On the whole, I'd say Spider-man has more kid fans than Captain America, so using that logic it's Friday to weekend multiplier would be stronger. Seems like a decent enough starting number. Certainly doesn't indicate a major bomb at least.

 Re: Amazing Spider-Man 2 Previews
I hate trying to find OD/OW/Total multipliers for the SM movies because it keeps opening on stupid weekdays.

 Re: Amazing Spider-Man 2 Previews
I almost always gone to preview shows of big summer movies. Last night I did not. Part of the reason is that the shows are so early it's not as fun. The other part was I thought it looked too much like Spiderman 3 and I wasn't as excited to see it.
I think moving the previews to 7pm takes away the excitement of the preview as opposed to midnight. More people are willing to go sometime over the weekend rather than right away. When Captain America 2 came out, my showing had about 100 people in a 400 seat theater. For a movie like that, that's really sucky. I've been to dozens of midnight shows that were sold out by showtime, sometimes days in advance. It's more fun that way. You get all the die hards and the response is awesome.
I want midnight shows back for all the major blockbusters.
