Opening in Germany is about 15 % better (admissions) than TASM1...

Its also Easter Monday holiday here today and this coming weekend is also a long weekend. So that should help it. However it is going up against Lego Movie, Captain America and Divergent which are all doing huge numbers.

those movies all come out the following weeks?

No Cap and Lego are 2 weeks old and Divergent a week old. School holidays though.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hit screens in 14 overseas markets two weeks ahead of its North American premiere. The (latest) Spidey sequel scored the biggest overseas opening weekend of 2014 with a $47 million debut leading into the Easter holidays.

The sequel’s overseas roll-out included a $2.3 million tally from 50 IMAX screens, equivalent to a $47,000 per-screen average.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 netted a $15 million debut from the United Kingdom, the biggest opening of the year in the market, while reporting the market's biggest Friday IMAX numbers for any Marvel title. Mexico caught $11.1 million in its debut, the biggest opening of the year in the market and 26% ahead of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Germany enjoyed a $6.2 million bow and Spain took a $3.9 million opening weekend, where the film finished in second place behind the blockbuster run of domestic hit Ocho Apellidos Vascos.

The Spider-Man sequel will swing over to Italy, Japan, Nertherlands, Russia, South Korea and 21 more markets next weekend.

I think it is pretty much gonna do similar to the preecessor. $450-500 million overseas. Unless of course it pulls a CA2 and breaks out in China, which is possible. Remember, The Amazing Spider-Man was release on the same weekend in China as The Dark Knight Rises, a move that effectively hurt both films. Without such a competitor, TASM2 could make $100 million in China.

It's possible that it being a superhero movie and also a reboot of a young franchise is killing it.

The other superheroes all feel fresher at this point and perhaps more worth watching. Spidey has a sense of its time has passed about it.

Including a villain that was featured prominently in the entirety of Raimi's trilogy probably doesn't help with any franchise fatigue.

It was always going to do mediocre in Japan the series isn't that big enough. Let's see the distribution from the holdovers before we think its doing bad though it is clear that this won't make substantially more than the last movie.

but he is Spider-Man arch nemesis. You can't not introduce him. Also from what I am hearing Dane DeHaan as Goblin is one of the redeeming aspects of the film while Electro is the weak villain

500m overseas still seems do able. It looks to stay flat from the last one in most countries but China should be bigger by a decent amount(the last one released the same day as TDKR)

Having him play a big role now is just too soon, IMO. Ideally? You'd have Goblin come into play in ASM3, or perhaps tease him at the end of 2. I haven't seen the film yet, but I'm guessing that introducing Harry AND turning him into a super villain in the same villain is going to feel like a necessary rush to get to the Sinister Six movie rather than a thematically sound decision.

The good thing is that marketing is focusing on Electro even though Goblin is in their which was a smart move. I think its fine that they are introducing Goblin in this movie.

Too bad people will realize how ridiculous and a bit shitty Electro is when they watch the actual film, however Goblin saves a little this mess

That depends on how the movie is actually. The whole conversation was that this one looked similar to previous trilogies.

A $67.2 million weekend gave The Amazing Spider-Man 2 the overseas weekend crown and brought its global up to $132 million a weekend before its bow in China and North America.

IMAX screenings netted $4 million from 146 screens around the world, with new openings contributing a $35,000 per-screen average. South Korea is responsible for driving up that average after reporting a PSA of $60k over the weekend. Spidey 2 has grossed $7 million to date from IMAX screenings worldwide. South Korea was the top opener for the Spidey sequel, catching the #1 spot with a $13.4 million debut. Russia took an $8.9 million bow for first place, 3% ahead of its predecessor’s opening in the market. Italy posted a #1 debut with $6.5 million, 20% ahead of the last entry in the franchise. Japan opened to #3 in the marked with $5.2 million. Taiwan brought in $4.1 million in its opening weekend.

The UK led hold-overs with $5.7 million to bring its market total up to $27.8 million. Mexico retained the #1 spot with a $4.3 million take in its second frame to reach a $19.5 million cume. That is quite good. Asia/Brazil has come on board and so it should beat the 1st one in OS. If you take out China OD( 10.4M), I think it can make another 150M from rest and another 100M from China. So around 525M OS is the target. If its legs are good in OS then there is remote chance it can crack 800M WW( 575 OS/225M DOM).

$116m with just OD from China is quite good for it.

It should clear 700 without a problem. I am thinking somewhere between 750-800 which is good. Sony is really lucky the OS markets are saving its butts.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is now in release across all global territories and celebrated the biggest expansion in its run with a $116 million weekend overseas, including $6.75 million from IMAX screens. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has grossed a total of $277 million after three weekends of release overseas, with $15.7 million of that figure coming from IMAX.

Spidey claimed the biggest opening weekend of all time for a Hollywood title in India with a $6.5 million debut. The previous record holder was its franchise predecessor, The Amazing Spider-Man, which took a $5.6 million bow from India. The Indian premiere of the new Spider-Man film was more than twice the openings of The Avengers and Spider-Man 3, and more than three times the opening gross of Captain America 2 and Thor 2.

The Spider-Man sequel took a big single-day debut in China with a $10.4 million tally from Sunday alone. Sunday was a workday in China, making the Spidey sequel the biggest opener of all time for a workday. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 recorded the biggest ever screen count for a new release in China, where it opened across 11,002 screens.

The superhero sequel took a $10.5 million opening in Brazil, a 76% improvement over the debut of its immediate predecessor. Spidey also registered a $10.6 million bow in France, 32% ahead of the franchise’s previous installment.

Other top openings for the latest Spider-Man sequel include a $5.6 million bow in the Philippines, $4.6 million from Malaysia, $43.5 million from Singapore, $2.6 million from Thailand, $2.4 million from the United Arab Emirates, $2.2 million from Colombia, $1.9 million from Central America, $1.4 million from Peru, and $1.3 million from Chile.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has grossed $369 million worldwide.

I am sure that $43.5m figure from Singapore is incorrect. If its $4.5m then it is definitely a bigger opening than the last one.
