ST will only be competition in Europe... In the developing markets IM3 has close to a month by it self.

Star Trek could grow in OS markets and regardless of it not being the competition it would still steal away IM3's IMAX theaters.

I still see $550m-$600m OS for IM3 though $1b would still be difficult. I won't be surprised if it does cross that mark.

Iron Man 3 releases in China May 3rd offically.

Heard it is not a great release date.

It will mean that the film will make the 60-100 or so million.

Based on the overseas users on boxoffice.com

SK is looking towards 45-50 million for IM3. IM2 got 27 million.

In Russia IM3 will beat Im2 total in a week and likely double it.

So these three markets alone will increase IM3 total by a min of 70 million dollars from IM2.

Big question is how it will do in Europe and Latin america.

I am thinking 550M at this point and just under 900M WW.

There is always 3D that will make it look like the movie will increase in every market but there will be few where the movie will not do as big which could result in stabilizing the overall total. Plus we are already talking about doubling the total, even that HUGE of an increase will not make it reach $650m OS. As far as the numbers are coming out it looks like a 50%-60% OW increase. With better legs it would just get to 100% increase but I highly doubt that would be the case with each market. So $600m OS total looks good IMO.

Europe I think in all markets will see a increase of some sort due to 3D and inflation alone... Not a large one

I am quite certain Superhero crazy Latin America will flock to the film...

Based on how TA performed compared to IM2, it should increase a lot in many of these markets especially Brazil and Mexico.

However I dont think the film will gross 100 million in China hurting its chances at 1 billion.

Im3 opens on Par with TA in France Opening day.

Good news so far and UK is looking for a 15-18 million opening.


Looks like TA X factor is in full swing.

That is quite big for IM3. I am sure it will be frontloaded and won't drive as much business as TA throughout the weekend but it should still more than double IM2 for sure.

TA2 will likely become the third movie ever to a pass a billion overseas.

It was a massive overperformance in Asia and record grosses in Latin America that fueled TA.


Even so TA 2 will likely be one of the biggest hits ever overseas...

^ Right now I'm here in SA for work and believe me, people seem crazy for IM3, imax screens were sold out 3 weeks ago, so do midnight showings, I couldnt get any ticket for tonight because my nearest cinema (cinemark) has numbered seats and all the good ones were already bought. Gotta wait 'till tomorrow to see it

Well it appears TA effect has increases the gross of IM3 across the world so far from IM2.

I think its a good sign for the domestic opening
