The IM was really healthy for BD2 with actuals I highly doubt it will drop THAT hard. Though I do see mid-60's drop for it.

The thing that worries me about Red Dawn is that US moviegoers are stupid and will literally pay to see anything. Cases in point: The Hunger Games, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, The Last Airbender, The Help, and Sherlock Holmes. All shit, but all managed huge grosses, and in Rise of Cobra and Sherlock Holmes' cases, they managed sequels too. So, with that in mind, I expect Red Dawn to be huge.

Honestly I'm just following New Moon and Part I. Both dropped 70% Thanksgiving weekend. I don't see much reason why this won't as well.

You mean the Tea Party youth group?

Or some sports fans and video game geeks.

Algren is tracking people planning to see Red Dawn, but he hasn't decided how to neutralize them yet.

Show them some Stallone movies, that's 2012's version of a frontal lobotomy.

That's very good for Life of Pi and Red Dawn. Not good for Silver Lining. 127 Hours managed $1.7 mil 3-day when it expanded to 293 theaters two years ago.

Surely Silver Linings will do better than that. My Week With Marylin opened last year with 1.750 from 244 theaters. I'd expect there to be more interest in Silver Linings and it's opening in more theaters.

RS is 5-Day [GUARD] mid 50's [LIFPI] low 20's [RDAWN] mid teens

It seems sort of pointless to have tracking for a platform release, it's not going to behave like a typical wide opener would.

If the MTC > RS rule applies, Red Dawn will break out.

Both New Moon and BD1 had same IM's over OW but that did change even if it is a little bit. I think BD2 will be a little backloaded and with good WOM it might actually hold well. I don't see it getting really good numbers but I think it can do somewhere between 65%-69% drop.

It says mid teens for RS and 14 million for MTC. How is that MTC>RS?

BTW when I did say it attracts Tea Party members, I really wasnt joking that much. Im more concerned that some dumb asses would vent out their frustration after seeing the movie and beat up some vietnamese guy when the movie was more about China's invasion. Especially with the elections being over not that long ago

Good tracking for RotG it has a chance to make $50m+ over 5-day. Pi should clear $20m mark for 5-day. Red Dawn's numbers are troubling but it should clear $15m for 5-day.

The Rs numbers are for 5-day
Havent seen tracking yet. Looking for MTC. RS is [GUARD] mid 50's [LIFPI] low 20's, [RDAWN] mid teens {nm} Moviesnob on Nov 19, 19:44

I think they are 5 day #s {nm} Moviesnob on Nov 19, 19:45

14 3-day is easily more than 15 5-day.

None of the new movies in the Fandango 5 yet? That's bizarre.

Exactly. It would be so great if Lincoln stays at #3 and if it increases this weekend.
