Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
$481 million, even with the apocalyptic Monday hold. Nothing the next couple weeks is going to be much of a threat to it (Like, Total Recall?) so it won't be until the weekend of the 10th that it has to worry about anything, and by then I think the shooting effect will be wearing off.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
My original 505m prediction wont come true. Thanx to the fucked-up, Joker-wannabe psycho. If I were to predict now, I'd go 100m lower, so 405m is my new prediction. But hopefully it can do much more. The movie deserves it.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
$405m is too low. TDKR is still getting more than $430m even with the media putting all its might to destroy its BO potential.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
If the projections for this weekend are normal I would say TDKR will end up with less than $450m total but if it does indeed see some rebounding this weekend then I would say that it still has a chance to get close to $460m-$470m total.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
With Hunger Games' multiplier, it's going to end up with about $425-430M. THG had a huge drop (61.5%) on its 2nd weekend, followed by very good legs.
Now TDKR is likely to have an even bigger drop on its 2nd weekend. I think it will be able to have good holds afterwards, like THG. Also, TDKR has the advantage of stronger weekdays.
So at this point, anything outside of $420-450M seems unlikely in my opinion.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
THG's March weekdays will be way lesser than TDKR's which does not need good weekends to reach the same multiplier. For instance with just almost $8m bigger weekend TDKR is more than $35m ahead of THG after 7 days much bigger difference so the weekend could go much lesser.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
With the weekend numbers kicking in I do agree that $400m is not yet locked even with summer weekdays. It really needs some very good holds over coming weekends to get past that mark. One good thing is that next weekend as well there aren't many movies doing gangbusters at BO.

Last I heard from him, he had painted his hair in orange and he planned a shooting in a theater.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
Captain America had captured 56.5% of its total gross during its first eight days in release.
It The Dark Knight Rises follows, it should finish with around $430.5 million.
I think $420 million is more likely.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
So TDKR looks to be battling for 2nd biggest film of the year with THG and Hobbit.
Interestingly, Batman has only topped the yearly BO twice - in 1989 and 2008. Will be interesting to see where it ends up. You'd think 3rd as it should pass THG but The Hobbit should do over $450m.

I don't know, I'm not really feeling the Hobbit. Somehing like $380m seems more likely to me.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
The general audience won't feel The Hobbit enough for it to make north of $400m. Splitting it into two films is going to hurt it. Christ, none of the first three were broken up into two films. And now there's talk of a THIRD?
$300m+ sure, not $400m+.

Re: Predict The Dark Knight Rises' total
I don't believe dividing The Hobbit into two* will annoy audiences. With The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers, The Lord of the Rings taught contemporary audiences to accept and even love movies with cliffhanger, see-you-next-year endings.
*I won't discuss the third part until the plan comes into sharper focus. I have a feeling Jackson and co. were simply floating the idea of a film directly bridging The Hobbit to The Lord of the Rings, and it was poorly worded.

500m though would require some really special late legs and I doubt thats happening. Agreed, 450 looks good at the moment. THG legs would give it 470-475.
