Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
While we're at it, Finding Nemo's re-release will probably bump it to being a $1 billion movie as well possibly.
Finally, I wouldn't count out James Bond either.
Casino Royale did $427 m overseas in 2006, Quantum did $418 m overseas (despite being a fairly poorly received film).
Some of these markets have expanded greatly. As the big action movie in the fall, it could always overperform and do $600 m + overseas (and $250 m domestically as a best case scenario).
Very likely a stretch, but not impossible..

Very likely a stretch, but not impossible.. It is not impossible but I think MI4 type numbers are the best for Skyfall as of now though it will probably cross $700m WW total. It will have slightly higher OS gross and cross $500m OS but the domestic gross will also be lower than MI4. $1b is highly unlikely IMO. The markets have grown but not to the level where this will see a huge surge and then it does not have 3D I believe, without that boost I don't see it reaching $800m WW total as well. But YAY Finding Nemo will be joining $1b WW club

So it's already made more overseas than it will in its entire domestic run? Impressive.

Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
Wow huge second weekend as well. With just 48 markets that is a big total. It is sure to get $600m OS now and $700m OS looks highly likely.

Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
Has IA4 finally been released everywhere?, or does it still remain big markets?

Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
Mother of GOD.
It has had 3 weekends with almost $100m this shit is really CRAY. With almost $350m in the bank from overseas I can see this getting $700m OS total now. Only if domestically it had broken out we could have seen second animated movie in $1B club.

Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
it's doing absolutely great, but 700m finish would mean a decrease in admissions, something I was not expecting

Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
As far as I know, it's not being released in Japan. A film needs to gross 1 billion yen ($12.5 million) to be considered a commercial success, and after Ice Age 3 bombed tremendously (almost a 90% drop in admissions compared to Ice Age 2) in 2009, I guess it makes sense that no distributor has picked it up. This exact same thing happened to Megamind a few years ago, too. It'd just be too costly to distribute a sure-fire bomb.

Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
How many countries are still pending for IA4 ? Looks like it could do $800m OS if it still has about 5-6 big markets to open.

Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
So $690m OS is a given at this point. Can IA4 reach $800m OS total?

Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
^ Magnus you are probably correct. This is the most successful animated franchise and I bet there are few more of these movies coming. This is actually the first time that it dropped domestically and the drop won't be harsh, so that is also a good news.
As for $690m total is it THAT hard to reach? Are there any more markets for IA4 to release?

Re: ICE AGE 4: Continental Drift (INTL.)
It has yet to open in Italy, so 690M is a sure thing and 700+ is likely.
