Abrams's name isn't as mainstream as his fans would like to believe. Spielberg would obviously be the bigger influence.

Re: Super 8: Under 90 mil club
This will probably make like 95 mil. That's what always happens when I make a club.

Or $900 mil. Because you're usually THAT wrong.

It'd need to open below $25 million to miss $90 million. And that is not happening.

Re: Super 8: Under 90 mil club
But it is not yet guaranteed to be WOM hit or even hit the multiplier of 3. I'd say it can still miss $90m with $25m-$28m OW. The early reviews at RT has it at 80% and with more coming in I am sure this number will go down. Nothing is really suggesting a great run or decent legs as of now.

Re: Super 8: Under 90 mil club
1/4 of it's Metacritic reviews are 100. So... It's probably pretty good.

It has an 83% with a 7.9 average after 48 reviews. The average tells me that the percentage is bound to go up not down.

Re: Super 8: Under 90 mil club
Agreed the average is pretty good..still with good reviews you cannot guarantee that the movie will have decent legs. The competition ahead is quite big as well so legs might be difficult, it will have to open bigger to make $100m

Re: Super 8: Under 90 mil club
It's not a sequel and will have at least solid WoM. That alone, in the summer, guarantees a 3.2+ multiplier. This one, however, looks to have especially good WoM.

Re: Super 8: Under 90 mil club
I don't think WOM will be nearly as great as we all thought. It might be like The Village, where people are pissed that the mystery is so anti-climactic.

This club is absorbing power like Goku in Dragonball Z or Kevin Bacon in X Men: First Class

Yeah, I'm in the club as well. After seeing the film, I don't think the WOM will be as great as first imagined.

While it is still possible it might make it past 100 million, after seeing it myself I think it's just off the mark to be a family film, and thus I'm not certain which audiences will show up, if any...

Re: Super 8: Under 90 mil club
With an expected less than $25m OW this club has a very good chance now.

Next time BKB and I are both on one side for a movie, bet your life savings on the other side, you won't lose - the combined power is too much

Hell, it's almost embarrassing for the people who did predict so high for this just cause Spielberg and Abrams name was attached....
