Re: Theater Counts & Screen Reports (Memorial Day Weekend)
I want to know what trailers will be attached. Obviously Horrible Bosses and Crazy Stupid Love, but I'm hoping they'll also attach the Final Destination 5 trailer.

Re: Theater Counts & Screen Reports (Memorial Day Weekend)
The main theater in Joliet, which had troubles selling out three midnight shows for Pirates last weekend (Not sure if they ever did sell out) has already sold out four midnight shows for this, which is all they had scheduled.
I doubt double-digits will happen (They aren't widespread enough), but it's going to be a record for an R-rated movie easily (I think Watchmen's $4.5 million has that record?).

Re: Theater Counts & Screen Reports (Memorial Day Weekend)
Yep, it's Paranormal Activity 2, which was helped by showing at 10:00 at a lot of theaters.
Hangover will at least do 8 Million, but I wouldn't be shocked if it could crack double digits.

Still, looks like Hangover should end up passing that, yes?

It certainly looks that way, and that also would be quite a bit higher than Indiana Jones 4's 4.5mil midnights. I know their extremely different films, but I would think that would point toward a 30+mil OD.

The sellouts surprise me. The business in NYC isn't nearly as crazy as it usually is for the big event films.
For the record Mike, the trailers attached to my showing were Crazy Stupid Love, Green Lantern and Horrible Bosses.

The Hangover Part II bringing in so much cash is kind of gross.

For the record Mike, the trailers attached to my showing were Crazy Stupid Love, Green Lantern and Horrible Bosses. NYC was lacking in sellouts compared to almost everywhere else. That actually strikes me as a rather great sign...it is rolling in the dough in the suburbs, not just big cities. Like I said, my suburban Virginia theater had 6 or 7 sellouts. I think this will indeed be the movie to bring the "young audience" back in theaters full force.

Re: Theater Counts & Screen Reports (Memorial Day Weekend)
It's just weird, the only showing that seems to be sold out in NYC is the midnight at the Regal E-Walk. That's the only one I saw anyway.

Because you can tell there were quite a few with movietickets.com: http://www.movietickets.com/movie_detail.asp?movie_id=78844&SearchZip=10095&SearchRadius=15&start=27&showdate=0&review=

Every single one of those theaters that MovieTickets tracks is in New Jersey.

I guess the city that's so nice they named it twice won't see the same movie twice. *rimshot *

Re: Theater Counts & Screen Reports (Memorial Day Weekend)
Just got back from my 10pm showing. The movie is pretty good. If you enjoyed the first one, you'll like this one... the reviews were too harsh.
But I have to say Bridesmaids was funnier than this one...

Re: Theater Counts & Screen Reports (Memorial Day Weekend)
early buzz is not as great as the first one, but I think reviews have lowered expectations...
So people are pleasantly amused by the film...
I based this off 2 friends who finished watching it now and say it was a "fu*8d goofball ride like the first one"...
These guys are solid, always showed bad wom on spiderman 3 and many other films.

Saw Hangover at midnight. I think they ended up with like 4 showings, all were sold out.
Crowd seemed to enjoy it throughout.

Re: Theater Counts & Screen Reports (Memorial Day Weekend)
My theater had two showings. Both sold out. Way better attendance than the Pirates midnight. Should at least be able to double that. Could crack double digits. My trailers were Horrible Bosses, Change Up, Bad Teacher (best reaction), and Fright Night.
Crowd seemed to enjoy it, especially the first half and the last 20 minutes. Not as good as the first, but WOM will be pretty good.

Forgive me, sirs.
Ooh, good to hear the Fright Night trailer will maybe possibly play in front of some showings of Hangover 2.*
