Hannah Montana didn't skew heavily young and female?

 Re: February 11-13 predictions
^HM was also famous on Disney channels for kids so she probably pulled in more mums and kids. Both Jonas Brothers and Bieber don't have that advantage but Bieber gets the edge in the case with mums and kids...though I highly doubt that they would come for this when JGWI is out (which also has kids that play a good role in the movie).

 Re: February 11-13 predictions
If they were young boys, I'm sure it was just because it was a family outing, and that'll prove true for Bieber, too. I doubt there were many groups of teenage boys going by themselves because they think Miley Cyrus is hot.

 Re: February 11-13 predictions
Everyone has to remember that Hannah Montana was/is a very popular show on the Disney Channel. And while most of the fans were younger girls, families were included in the audience of the show.
I remember reports of sellouts for the Hannah Montana Concert film (I think it's still in the Top 10 on fandango and movietickets in advance ticket sales) two or three months before it even opened. Bieber is doing well on fandango and everything, but it shouldn't come too close to Hannah Montana's opening

Hmm, The Eagle will do much better than that RS tracking.

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never - 38 million Just Go With It - 35 million The Eagle - 9 million Gnomeo and Juliet - 7 million I don't like Justin Bieber, but he has been everywhere lately. On the other hand, Adam Sandler has lost some fans between 50 First Dates and now. As previously pointed out, 50 First Dates had an ideal weekend - it made almost 50% of it's opening weekend on Saturday, Valentine's Day. I could see Just Go With It being too nasty of a premise to appeal to women, and too rom-com to appeal to guys.

 Re: February 11-13 predictions
Indeed. If it would follow the usual tracking "rule", that'd suggest an opening near $30 million at least...
I know there haven't been any animated/family films for awhile now, but can it really do that well? Hmm...
And that's awful for Eagle.

I know I just predicted otherwise, but Gnomeo not bombing would make sense when one considers how empty the kid's movie market is.

Gnomeo looks pretty cute and it's definitely time for a kid's movie again. I figured it would track above RS, but not that much.

And that's awful for Eagle. I don't care how bad the tracking is for The Eagle. I really liked Centurion and I'm going to see this one in the theater.

I feel like MTC is going to be off this week. I think Gnomeo will do better than RS, but there's no way anyone can agree with 20M.

Not sure about $20m for Gnomeo, but high teen is possible. The BOM poll is currently a little better than say what Curious George had.

Hmm. I would even be surprised by high teens for GNOMEO. I'd be totally fine with it doing well though. I love Emily Blunt and James McAvoy, but I wasn't thinking it had much appeal.

I meant it for films like Sanctum, which you can't really argue. If you're not given the option to see it in 2D, the price is your determining factor and whilst they might have wanted to see it for the 2D price, the price hike is a deterrent for a movie that looks generic. Also, the fuck? Gnomeo with 20m? That points to something like high 20s. Ridiculous. Don't believe it for a second. It looks terrible. That would suck for what I assume would be better, Rango as some of its demand just softened. Don't believe it'll get above 14m though.

Do we know people had no 2D option? Secondly, one could argue, making a generic looking movie in 3D might make some people who were on the fence to check it out who otherwise would not, because they like 3D.

Why do I get the feeling one of these tracking numbers is going to miss by a lot?

 Re: February 11-13 predictions
We don't know how many people that would have seen it had they had a 2D option were affected. And there's still my 2nd point about 3D actually making people wanna see it.
As for travel time, let's not go there again...

 Re: February 11-13 predictions
Very skeptical of Gnomeo's OW tracking, I attended a free preview screening last Saturday morning that was only around 60% full. That is horrible attendance for a free movie.
It should have decent legs though.

Do we know people had no 2D option? YES! For the last god damn time, many people's closest theaters DO NOT show a film in both 2D/3D. At the two closest theaters around me, Santcum was ONLY playing in 3D. And despite your crazy thinking, it IS a big deal to travel 10-15min (one-way) more than usual to a farther theater. Almost every theater here had it playing in bothformats.

 Re: February 11-13 predictions
My theatre only showed Sanctum in 3D. Gnomeo & Juliet, however, is opening in 2D and 3D. It's always a gamble these days, though, and more and more films are opening exclusively in 3D.
