Inception doesn't really rhyme with domination, but point taken.

Maybe I'm just still in the fetal position after Toy Story 3. Even if it just does TS3, it'll break 39m for the weekend, which is a sub-38% drop. A sub-40% drop in July is ridiculous. Oh, no doubt. I'm still predicting a sub-35% drop personally, but I can't stop that nagging feeling of it maybe only increasing like 20% tomorrow. Is there really any good precedents for this film? It's weekdays are performing like WC and POTC, but fuck me, I will blow a load if goes up 60% today. BJ wrote: inception rhymes with domination, mixed it would be dominception, best pf both worlds. ENOUGH OF THAT! Avatanic was bad enough.

Especially considering if you exclude the $3m from midnight, it would be a sub-35% drop. It means sub-30% is very likely, if not almost certain, next weekend.

Re: Thursday Numbers (Inception breaks 100m+!)
So Inception has now gone from 60th biggest OW to 48th biggest opening week. Only three films with 100m+ in 7-days didn't break 200m (Simpsons, Wolverine, and TDAT) so I'd go as far as saying that 200m and even 225m is a lock.

Look at Bourne Ultimatum (227) and compare it with Inception. Inception started $6.5m behind it after 3 days and is already ahead of it. Going to take an even bigger lead this weekend (around $8-10m) and it's just going to keep getting bigger.

Good stuff from Ebert about the film's word of mouth: Quote: "Inception" has entered into the category of a film people think they must see so they can participate in dinner conversations. http://twitter.com/ebertchicago/status/19341801998

Re: Thursday Numbers (Inception breaks 100m+!)
Good Thursday overall, pretty much on par with what I based on to make my weekend predictions. Thought last Thursday was an anomaly.

TSA went up $359 yesterday. That's the closet to flat I've seen in a long time!

My God, that man can write. I am flabbergasted at the amazingly high quality of his prodigious output. He really is a national treasure. His show (along with Gene) and Pauline Kael formed the foundation of my love of movies as much as any director from the 70s.
