TDK was the better film, but I'm not that disappointed seeing as I knew this would happen since before TDK began smashing records.

Legion did very well all things considered. I guess the marketing overcame whatever it lacked in quality.

Holmes screwed my derby I had an estimated 40% tanking, bleh.

While its great for Avatar to be eclipsing Titanic even without the 3D premium by the end of its run, I think its box office gross should get an asterisk or something on the adjusted for inflation chart. It is at #26 of all time, and will end up at perhaps #11 on the all time list.

It's box office gross could be at perhaps $750 m, which would only be 20.5% behind Titanic's adjusted $943 m adjusted gross, and 20.3% ahead of SW Ep. 1's adjusted gross. There should be some type of adjustment on that chart to account for 3D films, otherwise the adjusted for inflation chart will end up being useless as there are more 3D films that are released.

The inflation chart is already mixed up with re-releases and the rumour of GWTW having special ticket prices of 2 dollars.

750m is the floor at this point.

Crazy Heart has done very well in limited release, keeping the PTA consistently at $15K level as it expands. Just need to pick up the expansion pace more.

THE DARK KNIGHT was an IMAX-Release, GONE WITH THE WIND was a Roadshow presentation (with much higher ticket prices) for many years so were many other movies. You could add asterisks to half the movies in the all-time charts...

The Dark Knight is a masterpiece, the best film making of the previous decade, pure genius, Avatanic cannot compare in any imaginable way.

BOMs chart is fucking useless anyway. I have always had my doubts they even adjusted for re-releases.
There are too many things to take into account. They should have at least an explanation of what they are doing.

Bilge.

And you know what also, ROTK is a better movie than TDK.

The Golden Globe for Robert Downey may have helped a little, but not as significantly as that drop would suggest.

I've been rather wary of BOM's adjusted chart ever since they like refused to acknowledge the significant discrepancy with 101 Dalmatians. If you click on the title, it actually shows each individual gross from its respective re-releases over the years, so you can adjust it using the average ticket price. When you do that, I think it adjusts to something like $400-500m, but BOM still has it at $700m+. I've e-mailed them about it, but they refuse to address it.

ROTK is over rated boring as fuckin hell drivel that only won BP because those tards snubbed the fellowship in 01, ITs the weakest chink in LOTR armor by a mile and TDK 100% schools such mediocrity.

There should be an asterisk next to Titanic too then. Unlike Titanic, Avatar's DVD/Blu Ray release will be in a couple months. Avatar won't get the opportunity to stay in theaters for almost a year. Imagine Avatar's gross if is it was in theaters until November.

Titanic only stayed because it was doing well other films from the same time period didn't get a 1 year wait.
And Titanic went onto VHS first not DVD.
Also do you really think people will be watching Avatar once the summer rolls around?
