44 open/ 110-130 close. Hmm, I somehow heard that argumentation before from you... Was it with Angels and Demons or Prince Caspian ? Unlike New Moon, I actually have probably seen most Sex and the City episodes, liked and liked the movie. The less than 2 years will help this ones chances I think though. It certainly can go higher than my prediction, as it was just a teaser trailer, If there is an actual hook of a plot it could go higher. No one predicted Angels & Demons to get even close to The Da Vinci Code's numbers, I think. However, yeah, you said it about New Moon.

Besides, the thing to keep in mind is that the Sex and the City moovie was, biologically speaking, a sequel. Considering Legally Blonde was absolutely terrible it came very close to the first film's total.

44 open/ 110-130 close. This sums it up pretty well. I more or less agree with your prediction, too.

ANy female driven sequel has never overperformed. CA2, Tomb Raider 2, LB2, probably because they can drag guys to it the first time, but they refuse to go the second time.

Opening weekend: $39 million
Final gross: $110 million I am sticking with this prediction.

Whatever the 1st movie made is probably about what this movie will make: Same audience it's geared toward and not exactly any new fanbase brought in.. Straight up chick flick all the way..

Re: Sex and the City 2 Predictions
I can't see how this won't do $75m+ ow. The fanbase is strong and women will want to replicate the event of going to see it together.

The presales have started here a few weeks ago for the Wednesday night screenings and they are very very strong. Same level as the original, I'd say.

Re: Sex and the City 2 Predictions
Getting closer to the release I'm starting to feel the hype again.
$85+ million five-day is possible.

I have my midnight tickets already... Pre-sales have been huge, and the marketing machine is pumping full force again.. I don't see how this doesn't open to at least 75 million for the 5 days...

$85+ million five-day is possible. I think that's more than possible. Right now I'm seeing 30-17-17-16-11 = $91m for the 5 days.

Re: Sex and the City 2 Predictions
I was calling for $75 m + for this in its first three days nearly six months ago. I see perhaps a $180 m total.

Sticking with my X3 comparison, 105/205. It'll draw more men than Prince of Persia

I dont get why people think this will do less than the first. $85m+ 5-day is certainly in play.

Early RS tracking suggests around 80 (I suppose that is for 5-day)
