Opening: $10.3
Total: $55.0
I don't know if this can really be a hit with Adam Sandler being... serious.
Jim Carrrey's The Majestic bombed, opening in a similar 2,361 theaters and having an opening weekend of $4,904,339 in December. It still got a great multiplier, though. Its budget was $72 million.

But that movie had such boring commercials. Sandler looks like he turns in a solid performance for this film, and while it won't attract Sandler's main audience, it should get many older views.

Opening weekend - $13.8 million
Total gross - $54 million It's virtually impossible for its final gross to be that low, opening a week before Christmas. If the movie is as mediocre as the reviews suggest, it is possible.
I really don't think that a movie like this can get a multiplier of under 4 with that release date. Only something very frontloaded like a sequel, an action/horror film, or something with dreadful WOM (The Village, Alexander) could do that.

Opening: $13.2 million
Total: $85.8 million
I'm feeling good about this one. Though it's not the usual Sandler-type movie, it is the feel-good romcom of the Christmas time this year, and should be able to pull atleast $70-80 million minimum. It might be able to pull Something's Gotta Give numbers as well. All depends on quality, and from what I've been hearing thus far, it looks to be a nice hit.

Okay, well, actually I was just focused on the total gross. I suppose my predicted opening will be lower.

The teens when they see the commercials for it are saying "What the heck?", and the older crowd doesn't trust Sandler to go see a drama film. I think it will have an odd audience.

The early reviews are awful. If Sandler couldn't help Punch-Drunk Love, which had good reviews, this will pretty much bomb. Sure, it will be much more accessible than PDL, but Sandler is dull to general audiences without the grade-school humor, especially if the movie sucks altogether.
10/40 (elevated by Christmas)

I think the theme and the content of the film will attract the older audience. They might not be fans of Sandler, but I doubt that he will keep them away. After all, they can see from the commercials what kind of role he plays, and so I don't think that will scare them away.

The winners on opening weekend were the two who went the lowest:
Torrino and Jon Lyrik both with predictions of 10m. Congrats!
Well after a weaker then expected opening weekend, the question become: can the legs power it to a strong total. Predictions for the multiplier range from 3.83 to 7.18 and average about 5.5, so the film might reach about 50m. El_masked_esteROIDe_user has the best chance of being the closest for the total IMO.

I dunno, I went with 11/70. These types of movies ALWAYS have terrific legs, even without great reviews. Just look at Mona Lisa Smile or Something's Gotta Give. Plus I think that the WOM is a lot better then the critics. I've talked to a lot of people who really loved the movie.

Well, it is holding up fairly well for its first two weekdays. Hopefully it can maintain these legs. Still won't finish above $50 million though, if it even gets that far.

I'm pretty sure it will get over $50 million, atleast. Like Moviedude said, these types of movies have great legs during this time of the year, and I don't see why Spanglish would be any acception yet.

Looks like the legs are not too great. Jon Lyrik might very well win the total gross prediction as well. At the moment.I see a total gross of around $42-45 million.

A very dissapointing total would be my first reaction, but after seeing the movie, I'd have to say that is actually quite good considering how bland the film is.

The total is going to be just over 42m, so Jon Lyrik's low prediction will pay off. The multiplier is 4.768, so Rogue is closest there.

I was way off on the total, but I got the multiplier right. Go figure.
