 Re: March 6-9 Predictions
Well there will be minimal screen loss seeing as only ONE movie is opening, albeit everywhere.
Also, it's not like JONAS (LOL) are doing any business or STREET FIGHTER.
The question now is, will WATCHMEN take the biggest percentage record thing of one movie of the top 12? Madea will drop below 10m and so will Jonas leaving nothing else above 10m.
And what does gaggingly good drops matter to the holdovers when they're making, uh, nothing?

 Re: March 6-9 Predictions
In addition, for such a record breaking great numbers year, next weekend is awfully dead.

I dont think it has a chance to. Spiderman 3 still holds that record and this wont get close unless it opens well over Spidey 3 which it wont.

RACE: High 30's (dropped) MISS MARCH: Under 5 LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT: Between 10-12 I LOVE YOU MAN: Low 20's DUPLICITY: Almost Mid 20's (Nothing on KNOWING, but other services actually have it tracking slightly better than Duplicity and cosiderbly better than I Love You Man) I think watchmen could go below tracking. I dont see pre-sales being that strong enough for it to break out.

 Re: March 6-9 Predictions
They've cranked watchmen up 20m in the last 2 weeks, and I think they're still 15m low. Last house on the left seems low to me, I've heard some buzz, should do solid thriller business, 15m or so. Duplicity I can also see blowing past expectations. More realistic on Race I think, 35m should be good. ILYM looks solid.

 Re: March 6-9 Predictions
I'd rather RS have remained in the 40's. >.< I don't like seeing them projecting such high numbers, gives MTC less room to be higher, as I doubt they'll have 80+ tomorrow. But we'll see.

 Re: March 6-9 Predictions
So Race was overestimated by like 10m? Sheesh, these tracking people are insane. Also Knowing tracking BETTER than Duplicity and ILY,Man? I actually hope it's good and want it to do well because it looks interesting but I always thought it would be another Next. At least all 3 tracking above 20m.

 Re: March 6-8 Predictions
MTC's number is 75m. That's about 12m difference from RS, should be enough to encourage a breakout.

Awesome! Will it beat 300?... There's a very solid chance. In fact, it almost seems more likely than not.

 Re: March 6-8 Predictions
Wow, I'm kinda shocked with the tracking, but I'm still a little skeptical. 300 had low tracking because it had little precedent, so Watchmen could be getting the "goodwill" tracking of 300's performance, kinda like Jonas's tracking from Hannah's performance. Or, it really is going to blow up and feed the fiery 2009 box office again. Yahoo!

I was wondering the same thing - I wonder if tracking with Jonas was really overestimating the effect of theater count, and if it was really failing to account for the one-shot factor difference between it and Hannah as well. In retrospect, I should have been much more skeptical of the Jonas tracking because of that. Tween movie tracking is all over the map too in general, but a movie like this will be a little more accurate with tracking. It's a good thought though.

 Re: March 6-8 Predictions
Speaking of, was MTC's 37 for Jonas it's biggest fail of all time or what? It's the biggest failure I've ever seen for them.
They were 300% of Vince Vaughn's ridiculous title movie, but that's forgivable, as it only made .5m. They were 400% of Delgo, but forgivable for same reason. But otherwise, it's very rare that they even double a gross, especially one so high....
