Supafroius - how is this tracking done? Do you have a source or is it your own model? I'm just curious because I'm a very interested observer of box office but am not in the entertainment field. I find all this tracking stuff fascinating!

This is my own tracking formula based off averages of the movies previous weeks drops etc... etc.. ITs always been within a few days of shrek2 but was a day or two behind. Its legs have been improving steadily and now i have it passing 400 just before Shrek2. =p

Pirates fell behind Shrek 2 last weekend...
But this weekend it should be even with it.
SO, from here on out it should do no more than $20 mil less than it.

Very good for Pirates. It's on track for a drop below 35% this weekend, maybe even below 30%. I guess it could go as high as $430-435M after all.

nono Pirates2 is still 10 mill ahead in the day to day numbers. Makes pirates even that more impressive considering Shrek had an extra 2 day start as did all the other films minus Sith(1Day). Besides Pirates 2, SPidey 2 was the only other Friday opener.

Pirates 2 is holding up so well. It is a lock for $410 million, really. I think it'll go a bit beyond.
Monster House is doing great business too, down less than 30% from last week. It might drop less than 35% despite Barnyard, then it has a shot at $80+ million.
John Tucker Must Die is obviously really frontloaded. Don't expect a drop less than 45-46%, probably around 50% is likely.
Scoop is shaping up for a good, sub 40% drop despite no real theatre count increase.
The Ant Bully reaminds me soooo much of The Wild. Weak opening, great 2nd weekend hold. I think it'll drop less than 20%. It'll probably make $30 million now or more.
The Devil Wears Prada - still wow!

Garfield 2 also had the same pattern. Bombing on weekend and decent numbers after that. Before it was killed by big theatre loss.

Lecter, I gotta say, I always genuinely enjoy reading your BO analysis. I think it's the way you bold the movie titles. It must be.

Is Pirates going to beat Phantom Menace? That's what I really want.

That will be tough. but its possible most definitly. Either way I think it will be within 10 million + or - phantom.
